The Karl Urban movie version of Dredd, which BTW is very good, included a (female) Judge Anderson as the moral compass of the film. Otherwise the whole thing devolves into Nazi propaganda.
Same thing with the Punisher from Marvel Comics. Created by a writer with liberal values, intended to provide justice for the “little guy,” and turned into a stormtrooper by the fascist right.

Claims that any macho comic character is a parody are really too cute. Audience for this tosh is always 13yo boys and men 43 going on 13. Dredd, Spawn, even Dirty Harry all cash grabs.

The movie version also makes clear the corruption of the system, and Dredd himself ends up ground up and spat out. Not foreshadowing or anything…
