It was never meant to be in republicanworld. It was just window dressing to make the Goons look like they were reasonable.

Does not matter. GOP Senators will not convict.

If you’re a person who believes you can’t make a mistake and are always right that makes perfect sense.

“Yes, I incited an insurrection and was actively hoping they would hang Mike Pence so the election result wouldn’t get certified and it would instead go to a state-by-state vote in the House so that I would win. I do not give a shit about any of the people that got killed and maimed as a result, and I would have pardoned every last insurrectionist except that they failed at their appointed task. Bunch of fucking losers.”

Result: 45 GOP senators vote to acquit.

Comment I made on another thread. Why does he need lawyers when he’s got the corrupt Rethugs in the Senate and they’re free!! Big plus for him.

Donald is bullying others to put themselves in jeopardy to prop up his broken ego.

He needs a psych evaluation. He’s not mentally fit for the Senate trial.

If you’re a trial defendant, you’d probably be wise not to engage the services of a defense lawyer named Butch.

Let’s pretend for the sake of argument that the election was stolen from Trump. Does that justify inciting an insurrection? Nope. You go to court and prove it and if you can’t, too bad. Remember OJ? He believed that some memorabilia had been stolen from him, so he grabbed a gun and some pals and went to take them back. Result: A long spell in the slammer for armed robbery…

Obviously a conflict of interest, as they were involved in inciting the incident.

Come to think of it, are there any Republican lawyers who DIDN’T incite the insurrection?

If he puts forward that it was rigged as his defense for overthrowing the government acquittal locks the Senate GOP into his seditious plan.

Beyond political machinations, one could also simply follow the money - or lack of it.

Why do you think five of Trump’s impeachment defense attorneys have quit?
