Honestly, it might be honest. There’s a lot of people who are True Believes in the Goodness of Guns. Brainwashing has been chugging along for quite some time.
Doesn’t mean we don’t need to rewrite laws so that sellers become liable for the effects of their handing over killing devices to anyone who can hand over a couple hundred bucks.

I wonder if “Big Mike” did a background check before selling that rifle.
It is my considered opinion that civilians do not need assault style semi auto rifles or high capacity magazines. The ban should be reinstituted.

I think that Mike feels bad. In part because he contributed to public mass murder. But in significant part because he’s in for a world of bad publicity and possible investigation. The pleas for respect mean “I’m supposed to be immune from criticism” and the “small home business” means “We profit from skirting state and possibly federal regulations and can’t possibly know enough about our customers to make a judgement about what they’re going to do with the weapons we sell them.”
He’s like the guy who doesn’t believe in condoms and is terribly sorry his one night stand is pregnant.
