Republicans Can’t Afford to Lose One Vote The White House is being forced to court a Republican senator who President Trump has labeled a “loser” and another whose political career Trump ended to advance acting Attorney General Todd Blanche’s AG nomination to the Senate floor. Both departing senators have used their lame duck status to…
When even the Republicans who have nothing to lose go along to get along, you know the entire party is beyond redemption.
This Senate would vote to confirm Melania Trump as co-President, and then applaud as Trump cancelled the next election.
We have truly become a banana republic.
Foreplay for Trump is also begging…
shielding Trump and his family from IRS audits
Does that fall under Presidential powers, John Roberts?
You know, not contributing to the country?
Tillis and Cornyn are both spineless lightweights. They don’t want to do anything that might get them on the outs with the GOP come retirement. Both will be looking for sweet lobbying jobs that leverage their time in Republican grifter circles. As such, they can ill afford to stand up to the goon.
Makes me think of Jefff Flake with his coy reluctance and inevitable folding (Kavanaugh)
I assume Flake is now a wealthy consultant?
These guys always fold. Until they don’t, it’s not an interesting article. It’s similar to reporting that Susan Collins is “concerned”.
The image of trump begging…
(SNICKER)
If “Over The Finish Line” means the Mayor of Mal-d-Lardo will bend over to offer yet more headspace for the Guardians Of Pedophiles ….
Here we go again with the farce of Republican scumbags hemming and hawing and in the end, evil always obeys evil. Whatfuckingever.
Is Trump and the GOP trying to win the next election by blowing through the national oil reserves for the purpose of maintaining political control? America committed long ago to keeping some spare “strategic” oil in reserve in case of a national emergency. A break glass moment.
The US stores its emergency oil in more than 60 massive salt caverns across four sites on the Texas and Louisiana coasts: Bryan Mound and Big Hill (Texas), and West Hackberry and Bayou Choctaw (Louisiana). Together, they have an authorized storage capacity of 714 million barrels.
The Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) is currently at about 307 million barrels, i.e. shields at about 40%, Captain. The US consumes a bit over 20 million barrels a day (and Venezuela, with current production of 1.1 million barrels a day ain’t gonna save the day.) Other than our self-inflicted emergency in Iran, there should not be this much drain on the system. As red states enjoy on average the lowest gasoline prices, it is almost as if oil is being used to calm the populace at least until after the mid-terms. It doesn’t seem like prudent management if an actual emergency in the future is possible.
The US commercial (non-SPR) oil inventories were about 410 million barrels a couple weeks ago.
My prediction is that no matter how much Tillis and Cornyn were screwed by Trumped, they will eventually go along with him because they both so much want to screw Democrats that only point out the obvious about Blanche, that he simply is not anything close to being an appropriate nominee for AG.
Republican politicians are a really mentally-emotionally sick group.
Its Bidens fault! already reported on some right wing Rag
Trump created this tangle of GOP self-abasement.
A healthy adult might walk away, make a better set of friends, but not these guys.
Republicans do not have friends. They have marks.
Thanks for asking. I had to look him up:
Biden appointed him Ambassador to Turkey. I have no idea why.
Literally a restatement of the old college term “male chauvinist pig”.
The word “chauvinism” originates from Nicolas Chauvin, a legendary—and likely fictional—French soldier in Napoleon’s Grande Armée. He was famed for his blind, fanatical, and unwavering devotion to Napoleon and France, even long after the empire had fallen and he had been wounded in battle.
Chauvin was popularized in the 1831 French vaudeville play La Cocarde Tricolore by the Cogniard brothers. Originally, the French term chauvinisme described aggressive nationalism or “jingoism”—the belief that one’s country or group is vastly superior to all others.
In the late 1960s, women adopted the phrase “male chauvinist” to describe men who believed in the inherent superiority of the male gender, shifting the modern definition from extreme patriotism to gender-based prejudice.
Obama did the same thing w Jon Huntsman, Jr as Ambassador to China
Clinton named William Cohen as Secretary of Defense.
All nods towards a bipartisan consensus long since dead.
