Chris Ruddy, Newsmax CEO and friend to President Donald Trump, said that Trump’s call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was “absolutely” inappropriate.
I’m looking forward to the explanation of what guys like this who say Trump acted “inappropriately” but it “doesn’t rise to the level of an impeachable offense” — mainly Republican Senators — think does constitute an impeachable offense.
He blackmailed a vulnerable foreign ally to interfere in an upcoming election for Trump’s personal benefit, using duly appropriated defense funds as a bribe. Explain how that is not an abuse of power, please.
What I think is funny is that Ruddy was practically foaming at the mouth with rage during the Clinton Impeachment. And then when he was found ‘not guilty’ …hoo boy.
We have a way of always avoiding the big picture in America, particularly when it comes to Trump. He has committed so many impeachable acts it is almost impossible to keep count, but now it will boil down to whether the Ukraine call was “impeachable”. Self enrichment, obstruction of Justice, and most importantly, general and everyday abuse of power in all aspects of the presidency have become mere background noise to this latest line drawn in the sand.
The Republican “party” has devolved into a pyramid scheme for amoral and unethical bigots who surround themselves with FOX talking points 24/7. We are in a fight for the very democracy they profess to support but are undermining on a daily basis. I certainly never thought we would reach this point again in my lifetime after Watergate, but I have been as wrong as a person could be about what the future would bring.
