He’s verifiably dumb. He bankrupted casinos, for crying out loud.
It’s the people around him that are using him that are the smart ones that have kept him going. If he didn’t have that seeded fortune from daddy to waste, he’d be a nothing nobody with nothing.
As it was, that seeded money attracted the smart folks who manipulated him to get a cut for themselves, and they helped keep his stuff moving along while they all maintained their grifts. Symbiotic relationship.

Trump’s mind is aware on some level that it has a conscience, meaning an awareness of what other people regard as right or wrong, but it takes active measures to keep him from feeling out of control with guilt or shame. The only permissible emotion to it is rage. So whenever Biden brought up the quarter million covid death toll, Trump’s mind had to bat the awareness down and kill it and channel the rage outward.
The exchange about who is smart or not smart reflects one of the many of Trump’s narcissistic injuries that refuse to heal.
Pelosi get’s under Trump’s skin especially because she represents the maternal nurturing that he never got. Her suggestion that she prays for him enrages him, because, again, the only emotion he can endure without losing control is rage.

This is absolutely something Biden should bring up next time. “At least I don’t smear my face with orange makeup, trying to look healthy” would probably drive Spanky into hysterics. He might stroke out right on stage.

The fact is that just Joe saying tRump needed to be smarter in his COVID response was enough to trigger tRump’s insecurity - and prompted the whole “don’t ever use the word smart with me” nonsense and start disparaging Joe’s schooling.
The real pity is that Joe didn’t just say - don’t worry, I won’t. LOL
But it’s hard to deliver a zinger to every single drop coming out of the firehose.

What they’ll probably do, instead, is to start the debate by having the moderator first summarize the agreed upon rules and then to administer an oath to both of the candidates, whereby they pledge to abide by the agreed upon rules.

I don’t know if Cameron knows that he’s trying to play the same game that Bob McCulloch did after the Michael Brown grand jury looking into was officer Darren Wilson justified in shooting Brown. In that case too a grand jury member tried to get the materials released, but was unsuccessful.
This is just feeding the fire for people who remember that. And because they didn’t release the material there are still unsettling questions about what was presented, how it was presented, but most importantly the jury asked for clarification on the law and the prosecutors basically told them “here’s the statue, figure it out”, and “it’s not our job to explain the law”.
