I eagerly await Finchem resigning his seat as he believes the elections from one of the AZ counties he represents is “irredeemably compromised”. Therefore, the only ethical option is to vacate his seat until the “true” winner of his district in 2020 can be determined. /s

In the “marketplace of ideas” a good debate is supposed to drive out wrongheadedness. Liberal Democrats never anticipated willfully and proudly ignorant opponents who don’t actually debate but demonize. In other words they didn’t fascism could happen here.

The problem is there’s a cottage industry of grifting by spreading the Big Lie and antivax propaganda. Some despicable people are getting very rich, and I don’t think the marketplace of ideas necessarily accounted for that.

OT: there has been much talk here about the media; how it distorts reality, ie Biden. This one blows my mind. I happen to be watching the CBC coverage of what happened. They spoke of the struggles Mikaela has been having since the passing of her father.
We have all experienced the passing of a loved one. I know that on every special day of the year my parents are foremost on my mind. Remembrance is sweet but with it can come with emotions. For some it is more and effects their star of mind.

There is one word for what Republican candidates are doing, DEPLORABLE. But understanding the Republican base, this is exactly what they must do to not only win the GOP nomination but to get Republicans out to vote in the general election.
One of my favorite stories of all time was about Trump voters betting on Trump to win the 2020 election days after the election was called for Biden. One gambling house called it “taking candy from babies who deserved to have their candy taken”.
The point is this is a base problem for the Republicans. I mean other then hatred of Democrats, what other platform or policies to Republicans really represent?
Trump has even said he cannot concede the election or he will lose his base. Which is just another way of saying Trump’s base created Trump and not the other way around. The problem is not only Trump, but for the most part the entire Republican party is dependent on deplorables. That is without deplorables, most Republican candidates in most states would lose every office in every election from President and Governor to dogcatcher.
So this is exactly what Republican candidates in most state have to do not only get the GOP nomination but to get Republicans to the polls for the general election, compete with other Republicans for being the most deplorable.

I understand one commentator all but used the word ‘failure’ when describing this.
