Trump Dumps Giuliani As His Personal Lawyer Amid Slew Of Legal Battles | Talking Points Memo

He wasn’t getting paid, but if he can’t collect fees for providing “access” to the (former) president, then he’s effectively been fired.

LOL. So who will the orange sleaze get to rep him in all the coming cases? After the shit show we just watched in the Senate you know there are no decent lawyers lining up to be stiffed by the sleaze. Stay tuned.

Rudy needs to consider how prison would affect his life and consider cutting a deal.

…aides were unclear if the former president was serious about his request to financially cut off Giuliani.

When an old, confused, illiterate man says stuff, how are you to know if he really means it?

No, he won’t have learned anything from this. He’s incapable of learning.

I wonder if there’s some tactical reason for this declaration of separation. Tactical to the benefit of twin peaches, not ghoulsie, of course.

…Trump instructed his staff to stop paying Giuliani’s legal fees.

Um, is there any evidence that Trump has paid him anything before now? How can you stop doing something you never did in the first place?

To be honest, he needs to skip the country, but he is too far gone to realize it.

I hate to be a pedant… oh, no I don’t… but:

…the Manhattan district attorney’s office is proving whether the Trump Organization violated state laws.

I believe the office is probing, not proving. At least, so far.

Here’s a little fact for the non-lawyers:

Attorney-client privilege is not absolute, even if communications take place in the context of rendering legal advice, or legal bad advice, as the case may be. One exception is when it’s given in the context of the client committing a crime or fraud. Most people are aware of that. But if there’s a fee dispute between client and lawyer, it similarly disappears.

This will be fun to watch as it plays out . . .
