President Trump doubled down on his bid to overturn the election result in a Wednesday video, telling an angry mob that breached the Capitol building in a bid to overturn the election results, “I know how you feel.”
We must say enough — enough! He has betrayed our national security, and he will do so again. He has compromised our elections, and he will do so again. You will not change him. You cannot constrain him. He is who he is. Truth matters little to him. What’s right matters even less, and decency matters not at all.
Important to remember, this IS the Republican party. This is what Cruz and Hawley supported today.
The GOP congress has aided, abetted and excused trump for 4 long years. No surprise here, djt has continually encouraged violence and demonized our citizens. Today even Pence had his turn to be mean tweeted.
I think we may be edging toward 25th Amendment territory here. Not yet likely, I think, but have a look at this post by Charlie Savage, from the NY Times live coverage:
The Pentagon has issued a curious statement in the name of Chris Miller, the acting secretary of defense, in which he says that he and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff had spoken with Pence, Pelosi, McConnell, Schumer and Hoyer about the situation at the Capitol – a list that notably does not include Trump. “We have fully activated the D.C. National Guard to assist federal and local law enforcement as they work to peacefully address the situation,” Miller said. “We are prepared to provide additional support as necessary and appropriate as requested by local authorities. Our people are sworn to defend the constitution and our democratic form of government and they will act accordingly.”
