Number 4. In excess, repeatedly. He is in need of removal by impeachment or 25th amendment but no one in government listens as they’re all complicit either thru protecting trump from his worst impulses(going nuclear on Iran) or by their profound silence (both parties).

Are we going from anemic jobs reports (treated as “just fine” or “good [for the GQP]”) to tired to gasping for breath?

I tell you, if they can’t steal it wholesale they will ruin a thing and sell it for scrap.

OK, once again, the 25th Amendment to remove TFG is not going to work. It isn’t simply declaring him unfit, removing him from office and it’s all done.

Suppose JD gets enough Cabinet members to agree to get him out. TFG just writes a statement and says “nope, everything’s ok, I’m back” .

Now, they do it again AND have to get buy-in by a majority of BOTH Houses of Congress. It’s time sensitive and there are a lot of moving parts that need to work

A supermajority, 2/3 vote in both the House and Senate to override his objection.

It’s why the 25th will only be invoked if he’s completely incoherent and unable to write the word “No.” Or he’s dead.

But look at McConnell, and they still stand by him when it’s obvious he is unfit. They’ll cling to their totem.

As long as he can go stair or go ramp, he’s safe. I think he’d be ok if he nuked Iran.

Thank you – I appreciate it. When I finally had more time to delve into it last night, I found a good explanation (I think) of the different types of responses to motions. It was just nagging at me that I wasn’t in a good place and too busy to sort it out. Actions from Cannon strikes a particular chord with me because it’s so obvious she’s carrying water for Trump. Makes you realize how much power judges possess and how it can be abused in so many “above board” ways.

If you have the 2/3 super majority, then impeach him and remove him from office. And it’s 2/3 of those present. If not everyone shows up for the vote, it lowers the threshold.

I’m not going to try to find the article I was reading yesterday, but it was a medical doctor speculating on Morbid Mitch.

Their point was that his 9-11 call was for, I believe a fall and that first responders were performing CPR. Doc speculates he may have been without oxygen for quite a while and on top of everything else that was wrong with him BEFORE the fall, he appears to be only capable of reflex actions and needs prompting for those. Feeble wave, feeble thumbs-up, can barely shake someone’s hand if they do all the work, cannot even speak. And this is 4+ months after the incident and his ‘rigorous’ therapy. Doc said a long deprivation of oxygen isn’t something that folks in his condition ‘recover’ from.

You are quite correct that the 25th is such a high barrier to overcome that it probably never will be short of a full-on vegetablization. That said, there is a powerful tool embedded in section 4 that Congress has never utilized:

The next Congress could and should pass a law providing for the creation of an independent body of medical experts to conduct annual (or even semi-annual) examinations of the president’s health and fitness for office and to report their findings to Congress and the public.

Yes, trump will veto it. But it would be a wildly popular law, trump would look incredibly weak in issuing the veto, and he might be so toxic after this midterm that the veto could be overridden. Heck, it would have been useful for Biden too.

[trump, of course, would resign before ever submitting himself to that process, because the embarrassment would kill him and he knows he would flunk.]
