A bit of a quibble. The US polarized itself. Canada was polarized by the need to present strong leadership to face off against Trump and his tariff threat. There were only two viable alternatives, and the country chose the stronger of the two. The ‘third’ parties became irrelevant for this particular cycle. There is no domestic issue more important than defending our economy and our sovereignty. We may come out bloodied, but Trump will know he’s been in a fight.
Edited to add: We can make a minority government work. We do it all the time. Especially when it’s a substantial minority… at most recent count, 168 of the 172 seats needed for a majority… and the opposition is leaderless. Canadians sent a powerful message that Polievre’s style of spiteful whining and trash talking is not useful.
