Trump DOJ Crosses The Rubicon With Investigation Of The Investigators

Thank you Merrick Garland for keeping the DOJ so far above slander or hint of bias that you have delivered its norms pristine into the hands of vandals who don’t give a shit.

This is not going to resemble the first time around, when Trump wanted the DOJ to lock up Hillary, and they were like, “Nah, forget it.”

I must say , most of you are taking it much better than I am .

its own Orwellian title: “Ending the Weaponization of the Federal Government.”

AG Pam Blondie ordered the weaponization of the DoJ in order to persecute the people they accused of weaponizing the DoJ. Shades of we had to destroy the village in order to save it.

Sure, but DOJ can cause a lot of financial pain before it gets to a grand jury. Also, it was the Biden DOJ that restored McCabe’s pay and benefits, so I wouldn’t count on DOJ relief for a while.

The idiot believes that she is the First Felon’s personal attorney. That’s not how this works…that’s not how any of this works!

I’m awaiting retractions from all the talking heads who said something to to the effect that Bondi’s nomination was not a violation of the norms that separate DOJ from the WH because she’d been a prosecutor and AG of the third-largest state and therefore she must have a modicum of respect for the rule of law.

However, I’m not holding my breath. If Trump 2.0 has done anything positive for the country, it’s smoked out all the idiots in the media, and all the idiots who own the media.

And that right there is why I’ve spent decades nearly blowing a fuse every time someone says “We need a businessman in the White House.” Government is supposed to be about the common good, not fucking profit.

If I had a nickel for every airport cab driver who ever said that to me on learning I was coming from DC, I’d have a heckuva lot of nickels. But although I’ve spent a fair amount of time coming up with what I hoped were clear and compelling but respectful regular-citizen-friendly answers about why they should rethink that position, I doubt I convinced a single one. It seems to be an article of faith with a lot of people. I think respect is generally much higher for those who profit than it is for those who try to figure out ways to make the country run better and serve the public. Those things are abstract and not anything most can conceive of doing whereas profit sounds good no matter who you are.

Man, you’re going to replace Methuselah in the Guinness Book of Records.

This is, of course, the direct result of the rules the Roberts court made “for the ages,” as Justice Gorsuch framed it.

I wanted to do a much longer post, but I can sum it up this way: We are all so screwed.

You’d almost think these people have been poring over 1984 as an instruction manual.

From Bondi’s memo-- “RESTORING THE INTEGRITY AND CREDIBILITY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE," which means of course “DESTROYING THE INTEGRITY AND CREDIBILITY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE:" ALL CAPS, in case you’re not paying attention.

I hereby establish the Weaponization Working Group, which will be led by the Office of the Attorney General and supported by the Office of the Deputy Attorney General, the Office of Legal Policy, the Civil Rights Division, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, and other personnel as necessary to achieve the objectives set forth herein. The Weaponization Working Group will conduct a review the activities of all departments and agencies exercising civil or criminal enforcement authority of the United States over the last four years, in consultation with the heads of such departments and agencies and consistent with applicable law, to identify instances where a department’s or agency’s conduct appears to have been designed to achieve political objectives or other improper aims rather than pursuing justice or legitimate governmental objectives.

“The Weaponization Working Group”!
The Bank Robbers have declared themselves the Cops Who Investigate Bank Robbers, and announced their plan to enter every bank vault in the country to take all the cash away, sorry, look for evidence of bank robbers. The plan is titled, “The Bank Robbery Working Group.”

I know Roberts is the headliner for the Supremes, but Gorsuch is the backup who took the lead on “a rule for the ages.”

Reasonable people threw Richard Nixon out of the White House for far-far-less than what these people are saying out loud.

Of course the question now becomes 1) how to defend those that should be heroes from those that should be villains, but have tremendous power 2) how the country can re-establish the rule of law and 3) how we can re-create the DOJ and FBI as effective, fair, competent actuators of just law.

Specific targets:

Special Counsel Jack Smith and his staff, who spent more than $50 million targeting President Trump, and the prosecutors and law enforcement personnel who participated in the unprecedented raid on President Trump’s home.

• Federal cooperation with the weaponization by the Manhattan District Attorney
Alvin Bragg, New York Attorney General Letitia James, their respective staffs, and other New York officials to target President Trump, his family, and his businesses.

• The pursuit of improper investigative tactics and unethical prosecutions relating to
events at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, i.e., Trump.

The AG is now the personal attorney for Trump.

Thanks, I misremembered who was responsible for the phrase.
I’ll correct it in my post.

Well, if retribution is now the name of the DOJ game…

criminal investigations of the president

Time to investigate the entire Trump family, and everyone who assisted them.

The DOJ is basically the replacement for Michael Cohen circa 2016. Let’s hope it follows a similar arc.

Sure, but Bill Clinton was and is a Democrat. See the difference?

Yes, given that lots of trumpian stooges and minions will have been installed in both to make sure that the DoJ and FBI stay “weaponized against Hair Furor’s enemies”. That may be the only case where the roll-back of employee rights could be used to good effect: getting rid of the sleepers.
