Alabama federal prosecutors on Wednesday unveiled charges against Heidi Beirich, a prominent critic of violent far-right extremist groups like the KKK, Proud Boys, and others. Per an indictment returned on Tuesday by a federal grand jury in Montgomery, Beirich faces a charge of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, a charge of conspiracy to submit false…

The stuff DOJ accuses her of here is the very smallest of beans compared to the mountains of corruption Trumpworld engages in openly and publicly every day.

This is of course not to say any of these accusations are actually true.

The chaos and the cruelty are the point. Another day, another news cycle dominated by a dumpster fire.

a charge of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, a charge of conspiracy to submit false statements to a federally insured bank, and a charge of conspiracy to commit concealment of money laundering.

Lots of smoke, but no actual fire in these baseless political charges. There is no charge of actual wire fraud, submitting false statements to a bank, or money laundering.

No retribution here. Move along.

The kind of deep cover investigations the SPLC does into Americ’s bowels require this kind of shade, the undercover part, the breaking and theft of documents, payments. It’s how to keep tabs on the white supremacists when the govt turns it’s head, averts it’s gaze.

Romantic ties happen, too, but endanger the mission 's credibility. Bad girl. But jail? Come now, that’s excessive.

Epstein first!!!

Just a reminder that Trump’s all over the Epstein files as a pedo, and Blanche has been his #1 cover-up artist and pedo-protector.

That’s right — it’s August 12, 2026, and the President is still a pedophile and a rapist, and the AG is a pedophile enabler.

The Paying Your Boyfriend Into Your Joint Account does not appear to be the basis of either of the charges against Beirich. The actual charges against her are conspiracy to do (i) wire fraud because she they didn’t disclose to donors that they paid asshole informants, and (ii) bank fraud because they opened accounts under fake names. Item (i) is obviously bullshit, but item (ii) is plausible.

Do not conclude that there’s nothing there.

So the SPLC could have avoided all this if they had just opened their accounts under a shell LLC, like Trump did when he was laundering Russian money through Deutsche bank?

Just asking questions…

She left SPLC 6-1/2 years ago. What’s the statute of limitations on these charges? And what took them so long?

This is googable:

The federal statute of limitations for conspiracy to commit wire fraud is five years under the general federal provision (18 U.S.C. § 3282 / § 371), but extends to ten years if the conspiracy affects a financial institution (18 U.S.C. § 3293)

This is what happens when you start with a target and look for a crime.

What is different about the Trump is most of the time the DOJ has the better attorneys actually going to trial. During the Trump administration the attorneys going after targets are not top drawer. Oten the DOJ prosecutors are extremely young, inexperienced and not propertly trained.or supervised.

I don’t have serious worries about these charges but they have to be troubling for the public servant charged.

I had the same reaction. The second anyone in this admin starts yelling about someone else’s corruption, I find it hard to believe.

We’ve been donating to the SPLC since before Morris Dees (sp?) got goofy. They have done great work.

So which financial institution was harmed?
