Correct. Wikipedia says only two people have ever been charged under the Logan Act, and neither was convicted. But I’ve never heard of an ex-president doing anything near to this. This needs to be squelched.

Generally ex-presidents follow a kind of decorum. Stay in the background and stay on the right side of the law because they apply when one is out of office. Not so trump. He cannot behave. The asshat must be loud, bellicose and a jerk and most of all a criminal for ignoring laws that are inconvenient to him.

As others will or have no doubt pointed out: The Logan Act has never been used to prosecute anyone, even though it’s literally one of the oldest Federal Laws on the books.
The problem is proving violation of the law, I think. Trump’s claiming on some stupid FAX that Grinnell is his Envoy Ambassador is simply a number of words strung together in something that, to the unwary, might appear to be an English sentence. Unless you could prove that the foreign government believed Grinnell actually represents the US government, it’s just cosplay, which is well protected under the First Amendment.

I didn’t know Mark Pukita was running until this episode. He’s just trying to outdo the other yahoos running.
Many GOP and GOP adjacent in Ohio are backing Matt Dolan. He’s basically a mini-Rob Portman. They would like to pull a Younkin. I doubt he’ll get passed the primary, but if he does it will be interesting to see if TFG backs him.
