When I was young I went to Church every Sunday. I went to religion school. The priests and sisters taught me to Love My Neighbor As My Self. They taught me to love the stranger. They taught me to make sure every child was cared for and nurtured. They taught me to raise money for and invest my time in community service. They taught me to give freely and to feel guilty when I didnāt live up to their teachings about helping others. Boy Scounts taught the same lessons. I learned that everyone, man or woman, no matter what color or creed, is equal in the eyes of God and has full autonomy of his or her life.
Today, seventy six years later, I have just learned beyond doubt than none of that means a thing. I was a sucker for working for my community, for spenting time working with poor children, working with the scouts, for helping build a church, and for trying to live what is taught in the bible. All of that stuff seems meaningless because clearly my fellow Americans are eager to follow a man who calls people who do those things suckers, or are eager to follow religious leaders who want to tell men and women what they can and canāt do.
I am going to bed now, broken and disillusioned.

I thought out of all the swing states PA was the most reliable. They have a very popular Democratic governor, Josh Shapiro. Unbelievable.
