Trump Declares War On American Democracy | Talking Points Memo

In so many words, Donald Trump is committing treason. He took a no he swore to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America, which is by the people for the people. Guess what stupid, the people have spoke and you’re fired. Get out of the People’s house when the time is right. Knowing you being a little snake that you are your slither away in the dead of night Of the big since you had built around the White House. Chicken run chicken. Good riddance to bad rubbish oh and please don’t forget to take that hag wife of yours with you. And as you’re leaving stay off our grass. You’re no longer president Joe Biden will be president Hah Hah Hah.

Well, a good part of the risk would come from a president to whom oaths, or duty, or heaven, meant anything. Trump is fortunately beyond such constraints. He won’t start an actual shooting war unless he is convinced he won’t end up getting shot. Hard to say if he can be convinced, or convince himself, of that proposition.

For a time I thought that, whatever else he has lost to dementia, he must still have a pretty healthy sense of self-preservation left, what with the elaborate precautions he was said to be taking to protect himself from COVID, even as he left the rest of us to our own devices. Then he obviously let those precautions slip, so there goes that assumption.

Or a president who still wants to give that impression?

I’m not saying they’re not culpable too. Each of these three bears a special guilt for where we are today, and there needs to be a reckoning against them too. But there’s no insanity defense for Trump. Not in my book.

Of the four, I consider McConnell the most dangerous politician in America.

In a sanity-based world: yes. In Trumpworld: never. happen.

Oh, for god’s sake. We have the presidency and the House, and the Senate is close. Two years on, it will be better if everyone stays onboard.

They’re counting on low turnout in the midterms. Wake up, everyone.

Yep. None of those three will risk starring in a 2020 remake of the Dolchstosslegende. Some of their base these days are pretty SA/SS in their belief systems and general approach to life. You don’t want to get on the wrong side of those people.

Seriously I don’t know why Donald doesn’t take his wife and his son and move in to his Florida compound and play golf. Take a week of rest Donald, soak up your surroundings think about how much better you’re living quarters are at your compared to the dump as you referred to when you first laid eyes on the People’s house.

I was just wondering now I wonder what Christmas will be like in the People’s house this Christmas, I wonder how Melania will handle this one. Couldn’t get any worse than the others she’s handled over the last three years. Maybe she’ll put up all the green trees in Black and Collett a showstopper. Near remind you to stay off the grass.

Just remember what happened the last time millions of people were left thinking that they hadn’t actually lost, but had been stabbed in the back. It wasn’t good.

Actually, my read is that none of these concepts have ever even got close enough to Trump’s inner reality to even cast a shadow. Trump famously and personally has no Honor or Code. In Trump’s world, the only ‘bad’ things flow from actually having to be punished if you get caught doing something wrong. So… inTrump’s demented world, screwing a porn star while your new wife is pregnant is not bad but getting caught on the wrong side of the morals clause in your pre-nup is very bad.

Oh, it is on, bitches. Let’s take it to those motherfuckers.

That’s been @atrios / Duncan Black (rhetorical) question for some time, about all these rich-fuck wannabe “leaders” (Howard Schultz, Zuck, Trump, whomever): “bitch, why the fuck don’t you just go off and be rich, for fuck’s sake?”

And the answer, in Donnie’s case anyway, is that he (belatedly, because he’s so fucking ignorant and stupid) that squatting in the Oval might be the only thing protecting him from SDNY charges, and/or polonium tea.

In other news:

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton had an extramarital affair with a woman whom he later recommended for a job with the wealthy donor now at the center of criminal allegations against him, according to two people who said Paxton told them about the relationship.

The two people, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity due to fears about retaliation, said the high-profile Republican official acknowledged the affair in 2018 to senior members of his office and political staff. They said he told them that he had ended the affair with the woman, who then worked for a GOP state senator.

Trump’s lead over Biden is now down to roughly 2,500 votes in Georgia — with about 16,000 absentee ballots remaining + thousands of provisionals, military and overseas ballots. #gapol pic.twitter.com/sqVhS5o52y
