Kiddo was at school a few weeks ago when a shooter passed thru, shot a security guard on campus, then went on to murder 6 people between Austin and San Antonio. Kiddo is traumatized as she was face to face with swat and thought she was going to die. All campuses in the area were closed and the kids bussed across town en mass until pickup at 5pm. This shit happened at 10 in the morning. I worried for the parents who hadn’t heard from their children. They had to form their own special line and they were angry and scared.
As far as a parent’s worst nightmare goes, this is it, and my heart goes out to these parents like never before.
Saddest of all, the school has yet to address this incident with parents.

Over at DailyKos, this caught my eye: Phyllis Cha of the Chicago Sun-Times writes that some abortion rights advocates and LGBTQ+ groups are already gearing up to protest at the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
Why bother with Republicans, of course. But this logic seems really stupid in THIS election year.

I’m so old, that I can recall the NRA-affiliated target shooting group I learned gun safety and marksmanship from, would have regular get togethers at the range, then adjourn to a particular restaurant to drink. They emphasized shooting first, drinking afterwards. Never the other way around.
Of course, this preceded Wayne LaPierre.

OK but we need to stop pleading with MAGAts to stop being so mean. This needs to be an urgent task force where these people get punished hard, very visibly, with lots of publicity. Not just the whole sane portion of the country and LE shrugging and saying “what you gonna do?”.
