When people get hungry, the pitchforks will come out; Fat Dumb Hitler is going to need a lot of ICE agents and cosplayers for the clean up.

Well duh. We’ve elected a CEO not a POTUS. A CEO that owns the country and doesn’t have to answer to shareholders, board of directors, but only to Putin.

Can someone please explain the frame of mind that can (arbitrarily and at will, it would seem) recognize some people as individuals worthy of consideration (in this case, farm owners) while others are regarded as herds of animals (in this case, farm workers) who can be fed like rodents, say rabbits and groundhogs, into a combine harvester without a care. Who thinks that way? (Rhetorical question.)

Murkowski voted for the motion to proceed on Saturday evening.

This is just no way to run a country.

Too true! Where would the Democrats be, without their overpaid, top 1%-oriented, income-maximizing “consultants”? And why would Democrats assume these people are on their side?

SCOTUS is off for the summer and no nationwide injunctions. Perfect timing.

The Justice Department is aggressively prioritizing efforts to strip some Americans of their U.S. citizenship.

Department leadership is directing its attorneys to prioritize denaturalization in cases involving naturalized citizens who commit certain crimes

Denaturalization is a tactic that was heavily used during the McCarthy era of the late 1940’s and the early 1950’s and one that was expanded during the Obama administration and grew further during President Trump’s first term.

The DOJ memo says that the federal government will pursue denaturalization cases via civil litigation — an especially concerning move, said Cassandra Robertson, a law professor at Case Western Reserve University.

In civil proceedings, any individual subject to denaturalization is not entitled to an attorney, Robertson said; there is also a lower burden of proof for the government to reach, and it is far easier and faster to reach a conclusion in these cases.

"That is not a ‘due process’ violation since all immigration proceedings are civil matters and no individuals— including American citizens — are entitled to government-furnished lawyers in any type of civil matter," he said.

ETA: The memo actually came out June 11, in the midst of all the other stuff out there.

You’re right times 1,000.
Words matter, and we keep losing on that score.
“Retribution” implies revenge for wrongs which have been committed.
There has to be a better framing for that. Trump is attacking and the correct coverage should reflect that, as you say.
Another misuse is “crack down,” used in today’s TPM and everywhere else.
Those words imply that wrong-doing has been committed, and the people “cracking down” are setting things right.
Orwell would love that.
We need to stop letting the opponent frame the discussion.

It’s as if the United States has chosen to elect someone whose agenda is “the Samson Option.” Admittedly, Samson didn’t rack in the big shekels. But aside from vengeance and complete destruction, it’s about the same.

Or being here on a student visa, working illegally on some startup.

Whale boat captains?

Really? I thought we were part of the IWC moratorium on whaling, and that US whaling is limited to “scientific” hunts permitted by the IWC, and subsistence whaling by a few aboriginal tribes.

How many whale boat captains can there be in this country?

Well there is something in common with Samson–remember what he did with the jawbone of an ass.

And right now in the US of A we got a real ass in the Oval Office leading the country to collapse.
