Trump Breaks His Campaign Promise to Fund IVF

The Roe v Wade era rationale was that the demarcation line for the right to life for a fetus was viability. That was a sensible resolution to the conflict between the rights of the mother (a human being with rights, who also happens to biologically function as an incubator) and an unborn child (also a living being). Viability. Before viability, the unborn child cannot survive independent of the mother. Before viability, it is impossible to ascribe rights to the unborn without taking away rights from the mother. Before viability, ‘protecting’ the personhood of the unborn child while imperilling the life of the mother is non-sensical. If the mother dies, the unborn child dies. Parents act as guardians in the best interests of children. Terminating a pregnancy in which the unborn child has died, or is destined to die shortly after birth, often painfully, is not depriving the unborn child of life. Nature has done that.

Viability as a decision point has always been the logical, reasoned and reasonable approach. Or some people’s opinion.

“…how Trump’s name ended up getting redacted from the massive trove of Epstein documents reviewed by a team of a thousand employees at the FBI…”

Well, clearly, after Trump’s name was redacted from all those docs, there was nothing left. Nothing to release! So there, Libz!!

If the name “Trump” isn’t in there, he’s oblivious.

Deporting Stephen Miller wouldn’t solve the immigration problem, but it would be a great start.

Frankly, I can’t “like” any of this news.

As is coming out with further disclosures of the contents (massive amounts of video, witness accounts that never made it into court), it seems obvious this goes much beyond redacting ‘mentions of Trump’s name’.

“this is in the US branch of the Guardian…”

Which is why I dropped the Post (too Bezosy) and subscribed to the Guardian. I figure at this point, most US national papers will be kowtowing to the merciless overlord in DC, and I don’t need the trumped-up slant.

Here is MIller’s and CF-DJT’s solution for the deportation numbers.

Any day they will embrace it. “Yes, we are deporting 3000 evil criminals every day.”

(Why wouldn’t they lie about it, they lie about everything else.)

I mentioned elsewhere that RFK Jr. is the best member of his cabinet. Given that reality, it’s just as likely that they’re unable to identify Trumps cognitive deficiencies.

So, everybody owes the taxman an additional $30 next year and the year after to cover federal expenses for AT&T.

Next company? Step right up to get your tax savings.

Equivalent to Tom Friedman’s wisdom of cab drivers, but I’ll share for what it’s worth …

This morning I dropped my car off for service and took a Lyft home. The whole way the driver is on the phone with a friend who’s ranting and ranting about his employer refusing to pay several hours of overtime and complaining how going grocery shopping the other day took all his money. (The driver couldn’t get three words in edgewise.)

Now, I have no idea if these people voted for Trump, or voted at all, but it’s interesting listening to folks who are the classic “making ends meet” people wonder what the hell is going on with the economy. I live in purple eastern PA, so makes me wonder how, say, Arkansans are reacting.

Dear Leader can fire the head of the BLS, but he can’t change reality, no matter what Karl Rove said (and look how it worked out for W).

Summer vacation: A climate data point.
Spent last week at our time-share in Myrtle Beach, SC with the family. It was HOT! It had been nearly 4 years since we stayed at that location and my observation, supported by my wife, is that the sea looked DEAD.

Literally, I counted just 5 jumping fish jumping in all the hours watched from the beach. Very few birds other than the ubiquitous pigeons. No large flocks of seagull feeding on bait schools. A few pelicans and osprey cruising buy but not hunting for fish.

No dolphins or pilot whales, at all.

No commercial or sport fishing boats seen, at all.

Of course, this is just one data point at a place and time, but I don’t recall the ocean being this dead during past visits.

On the “positive” side, we had a front row seat to some truly awesome thunderstorms on a few afternoons and nights. Very cool watching from the 18th floor balcony.

But just a generally somber observation for the entire week.
