President Trump’s dissatisfaction with media coverage when he halted an airstrike against Iran last year reportedly influenced his authorization of the strike that killed top Iranian military official Qasem Soleimani Thursday night.
People who are beating the war drums and worshipping at the altar of our service men and women going to the Middle East are completely and intentionally ignorant to these basic truths.
My Facebook page is packed full of this. And I’m already being attacked for being an “armchair warrior,” “liberal hater of everything America stands for” etc.
Goddamn it. History is repeating itself, at least in my little corner of the world.
Additionally, Trump held frustration over the details of his internal deliberations leaking out — which he felt made him looked weak, according to the officials who spoke with the Post.
The Trump Administration in a nutshell.
And we’re really going to let them lead us into war?
Nowhere in there did I read anything about a thorough discussion of the pros and, especially, the cons of killing Suleimani. Because it didn’t happen. The whole thing was about Trump worrying about Trump’s image. Especially after Impeachment and in an election year.
Bush and Obama both rejected the opportunity to kill Suleimani, thinking it would raise more problems than solve. I’ll trust their collective judgments (especially Obama’s) every day of the week over liars like Trump, Pence, and Pompeo -who are already lying about their rationale for this action.
This seems to be another self-manufactured crisis that 45 is “solving.” He busts up the nuclear agreement, imposes harsh sanctions and then, when he gets pushback on these “intiatives,” responds with ill-considered drama to “solve” the crisis he created. Except he hasn’t “solved” anything, he’s likely opened Pandora’s Box…
Impeachment is a tough business too especially when you are guilty.
Lindsey speaks of him as if he is a three year old. He is thinned skinned. Worried about press coverage, wow… Not that he brought the entire debacle on himself by pulling out of JCPOA -that does not bother him. Looking big and tough is what this is about. It ain’t peace that’s for darned sure. Trump’s ego needed stroking
In other words, Trump’s order to assassinate Soleimani was little more than a temper tantrum? What a guy! What a child!
No doubt the service men and women killed and injured in action against Iran resulting from this childishness, along with their families will find great comfort in Trump’s words and impatience.
Come on now. You know they can’t go. Conflict of interest. They have illegal deals in Azerbaijan with Iran’s revolutionary guards. It’s the new “bone spurs”.
Which is it Lindsey , You were or you weren’t briefed?
"Although Graham told the Post that there was no clear plan that Trump was ready to kill Soleimani during his Monday visit to Mar-a-Lago, the Trump ally said that “it was on Trump’s mind” given the President’s concern that Iran was “going to hit us again.”
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) told the Post in an interview that when he went to Mar-a-Lago on Monday, he could tell that “Benghazi has loomed large on his mind.”
