Every press conference should have a reporter asking some version of this question, specifically identifying a lie and using the word “lie.”

There have been a couple of very long threads about whether or not Woodward had a duty to share his interviews at the time of those interviews, whether anyone would have listened to Woodward if he had done so, and whether or not Woodward needed as much time as he did to verify his sources before disclosing the substance of those interviews. I understand the arguments on both sides of the issue. I hope it is not too much of a cop-out on my part to say that I am not going to second guess him now. His timing seems impeccable, and if his book is instrumental in bringing Trump down that is good enough for me. I realize that there are about 200,000 people at this point who might beg to differ. If they could.

Agree. Whatever Woodward’s motives, his actions right now work in our favor.
I also tend to lean towards excusing his delay to avoid being “Rathered” as @meri implied. That would undo any impact of the book, which I still consider an important and well-timed work.

Thing is I basically gave up drinking in 2003 for medical reasons. These days just small sips with long dry spells in between. Sucks but the alternate choice sucks worse.

Yes Woodward would have come off better served (as all of us would have been) if he blew the whistler sooner, and his excuse is suspect but Donald J. Trump is the last person on earth to point this out.
