Surely when discussing the Revolutionary War, airports would leap to anyone’s mind, right? First thing you think of!
I can see his train of thought. "Teleprompter is out… I have to wing it. Wing it - what has wings…Ahh Airplanes! Airplanes are at airports… That’s it! Washington’s army ran over and rammed airports!
It would be all kinds of illegal … but would be fantastic if somebody hacked into Trump’s teleprompter at some major speech … and subtly tweaked his content in dozens of ways … but such that he would not readily catch on … or be able to extricate himself without humiliation.
“I knew the speech very well,” he continued. “So I was able to do it without a teleprompter but the teleprompter did go out.”
Well, obviously he couldn’t do it without the teleprompter, because he completely blew it when the teleprompter went out. He didn’t know it well enough to ad lib, or maybe he was afraid that he’d go off script, and that would end up having the event ruled a campaign event and his campaign would have to pay for all those flyovers.
Didn’t something like this happen to Obama at some point? And he went ahead and the only way anybody knew there was anything wrong with the teleprompter is that someone else informed the press.
I see where Trump was calling on young people to join the military and make a truly great statement in life. But didn’t I see recently where he had told his daughter Tiffany that if she ever joined the military he would cut her out of his will?
Post hoc: I believe I must have been thinking of the teleprompter Bill Clinton had during one of the SOTU addresses, as skippyflapjack mentioned. But I also think I remember that Obama at some point had something similar happen, because I remember thinking that he had been completely vindicated on the teleprompter issue. One thing for sure, neither one of those guys would have started talking about Revolutionary-era airports.

I didn’t see Scrooged but I have seen Groundhog Day a few times. I’m trying to play it in my mind, and it’s not working.
So he knew the speech “very well” and still said “airports”. So in other words he is an idiot.

Melania planned to not only be in the spotlight, but to cash in on it. Remember her lawsuit against the Daily Mail, which called her a former escort because some of her modeling work was for an escort company? She claimed it was slander and that as First Lady she would be the most photographed person in the world, so she was being robbed of an estimated $150 million.
She also has an agreement with Getty to receive royalties on pictures of herself, and that the pictures only be used in a positive context. She made between $100K and $1M for use of Getty photos in 2017.
