In the wake of his indictment in Manhattan, Trump’s legal team has asked for a delay in a civil trial involving author E. Jean Carroll, one of more than a dozen women who have accused him of sexual assault.
Something about if you can’t do the time, then don’t do the crime.
Trump has been the one making public statements about all of his legal issues. How can a judge then turn around and grant him a delay because of his words and actions?
Screw you Trump. The circus is of your own making. Your lawyers are hacks and this is a spurious argument. You bask in attention, good or bad, so the ploy of delaying because of attention is a straw man,.
And so now the media hounds that stirred up the NYC publicity for whatever reasons is saying there is too much publicity for them to get a fair hearing in court.
They were (and are) using the publicity to raise funds for The Felony Guy.
Personally, I’m tired of allowing corporations and wealthy individuals the opportunity to “run out the clock” with delays to avoid/push back the start of court proceedings. His team has had ample time to prepare. If Trump is suggesting that all of his other “legal issues” are making this time period challenging, then tough shit. Game on…
This isn’t a criminal case, so there isn’t quite the slant towards the defendant that there might otherwise be. Carroll’s attorneys might be arguing that this ‘news’ isn’t all that different from the specter of indictment hanging over him that we had previously, or all the other bad press TFG has engendered over the past, oh, I don’t know, forty years…
Trump was offered a remote surrender and arraignment via Zoom on the NYC case. It was his decision to create the spectacle of the O.J. motorcade and personal appearance instead, and I’m sure the judge is aware of that. Trump should be told to pound sand.
Laugh in their faces. TFG and his attorneys can pound sand. This is the beginning of the end for TFG, he is going to go through some things. It is satisfying to hear him and his lawyers yowling like the hyenas they are.
Serial criminal asks judge to delay trial until publicity about his crimes dies down. Judge: “And when do you think that might be?” Criminal: “Well, seeing as I’m continuing to commit crimes at a robust rate, I think we could schedule this trial, say, a month or two after I’m dead.”
