Trump Approves Sanctions Against ICC Workers Who Investigate US Troop | Talking Points Memo

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump lobbed a broadside attack Thursday against the International Criminal Court by authorizing economic sanctions and travel restrictions against court workers directly involved in investigating American troops and intelligence officials for possible war crimes in Afghanistan without U.S. consent.

“And they’re now suggesting somehow that our ability to, when we have someone does something wrong, our ability to police that up is inadequate

Oh Petty PompousAss you really said this during national protests over police brutality and systemic racism? :no_good_woman:

That Bunker Mentality is really setting in over at the White House?

Well, I suppose Trump’s Brain Trust is looking at the polling numbers and know that Donald has little to no chance of escaping war crime charges after taking those toddlers away from their mothers and putting them in cages.

Melania “doesn’t care” and no one else will either when they take Trump away in shackles to The Hague.

Publicly, the administration actively encourages police brutality and pardons war crimes by soldiers against civilians. I shudder to think what US military and intelligence are doing under the veil of secrecy.

What do you expect from a president that has been pardoning perpetrators that havve commited war crimes by US military standards?

So, tRump is acknowledging that our US Military personnel (some of them) are committing crimes against citizens in other nations. Is this suppose to be a dog whistle to the military the same way that tRump an McConnell refuse to pass any laws on the militarized police who abuse their powers and continue to give them immunity from killing people using choke holds in the US. Just when you think the orange menace can’t go any lower-he does, BUT in reality we know there is no level of low he can’t achieve.

This is the Law and Order president in action. No Law, Dis-Order.

Rejecting all these international treaties - America is on her own.

As you know, the US has kept itself out of the ICC. The Court was duly authorized in 1998. More than a hundred states are now members but still it isn’t good enough for Americans. Not Clinton, not Bush, and not Obama – not one of them was willing to sign us up.

We can all chortle at Trump’s antics but the dirty not-little not-secret is that Trump’s predecessors would not have acknowledged or welcomed an ICC investigation, either.

A cynic might argue that we Americans are actually afraid of the Court because we and our friends commit the most war crimes.

When do we get sanctions against TPM headline writers?

I think defense contractors are the most concerned about efforts to defund the military, and certainly Trump isn’t helping here. The actual armed forces will continue to get funded, but recruits will be better vetted. We all know Boeing’s issues, and Raytheon has not been able to save itself despite owning Esper and Pompeo (and even winning a congressional seat, CA-25, for an exec Garcia). Only Lockheed Martin is uncharged from a year ago. Most of the stuff they are selling are improvements around the edges, satellites, radar, communications, remote sensing, guidance. I guess there is a growing market for using such equipment on US citizens, but it has a very bad look. Also, if, as discovered in the UK yesterday that reopening schools is contingent on better social spacing of students and reduction of class size to 15 max, there is a huge need to mobilize teachers, construction, curriculum design, health and nutrition services, etc, for our daycare age and K-12 populations. $200 billion in federal aid could literally spare a generation that is otherwise looking into the ecological and economic abyss.

I’m no idiot. This was done at Israel’s request. There are more requests for sanctions against Israel than any other country in the world. The USA has run cover for that in the UN with vetoes and now this. I’m sure the IC couldn’t care less about Trump, knows he’s going to be gone soon and that his goofy Exec orders will be reversed as soon as he is.

Indeed, when you get 54 percent of all federal discretionary spending, you don’t even need a Benevolent Association to insist on “qualified immunity.”

Asshole is pissed at the brass so he thinks throwing the troops a sop will make them give him some high fives – and piss off their commanders. He’s such a little tit for tat piece of shit. His shitty psychopathology is so transparent you can see daylight through his head.

You pretty much nailed it. US military is not only committing war crimes, but also gets pardoned when the honorable troops with them turn them in for those crimes. I guess it has just become a burden for trump to issue pardons so the lazy bastard wants to just stop it before it gets to his desk.
