The latest data from Sea-Intelligence, described as “staggering” in a weekly report published yesterday, shows that carriers anticipate container demand for week 18, next week, on the Asia to US west coast trade lane will be 28% lower than expected, while for week 19, carriers are expecting shippers to move as much as 42% less cargo than anticipated on the Asia to US east coast trade lane.
Thankfully, neither Peter Navarro nor Ron Vara foresee any negative upstream or downstream economic effects from this “diminished” activity, although American consumers may see some minor disruptions.

It may be outside the memory or learning of Emine and others, but I am sure I am not alone in remembering that Strom Thurmond’s fondest wish (aside from reinstating Jim Crow) was to eliminate all foreign aid (except military aid to right wing dictators and insurgents).
