Trump Administration Has Repeatedly Confessed in Court to Withholding Money From Blue States

Late last year, Department of Justice (DOJ) officials agreed to make a surprisingly damaging but until-recently little-noticed admission in court: they had cancelled several grants worth at least hundreds of millions of dollars largely because the money was slated to be sent to states that did not support the president in the last election.  “A…

Someone might want to inform Trump that tens of millions of Republicans live in blue states.

But Doug Burgum said that he was all about making government better.

Question is would this strategic investment help us to maintain some sort of parity with China regarding the race to solar?

This administration is a bunch of law breakers but as we know there will not be any accountability. The worst thing the “supreme” court did was give Trump immunity for official acts. The citizens united case allowing unlimited money in politics is right behind.

“Rational policy”: two more words that Trump doesn’t know.

“Unprecedented“? That’s one word for it. There are others—illegal, immoral, unconstitutional…shall I go on?

Did they actually get the money?

Or is the oathbreaking traitorous administration still stalling as one would expect them to do?

And vice versa.

He’s not fucking with the states. He’s fucking with Americans.

Why would he suddenly care? Narcissist, sociopath, pathological liar does not understand that people have an existence separate from his needs and fantasies.

And the combination is deadly for democracy.

There is, which is why the Feds are conceding the issue and restoring the grants rather than go through discovery. They would lose at trial anyway, but trying to fight it would generate additional material current and future plaintiffs could use against them.

The insulation that’s currently in place to keep the redhats from understanding that their lives and futures are being fucked too is the largest problem. So many fake news outlets exist to keep them from encountering facts.

The rest of us face hell on earth because they won’t change the channel.

Additional material worse than the admission this was solely based on blue-state status? I would think the stipulation that they blatantly committed a crime would be bad enough on its own. I’m really curious as to why they were so terrified of discovery.

Denying grants based on an entity being in a blue state is illegal, but it doesn’t make the individuals involved personally liable. And the Court-ordered solution is the reinstatement of the grants, which is what is happening.

The supposition is that discovery would identify official, prosecutable misconduct of those involved. Or, at the very least, would out behavior by those involved that may cause Trump to sack them. For example, if they are pocketing government funds themselves, but not giving Trump a cut.

Whatever it is, it’s enough for those government lawyers to make a damaging admission in Court to prevent further discovery.

Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Russ Vought.is a hyper partisan hack who cares more about his Project 2025 and the Heritage Foundation than he does the United States of America. It never occurs to him that when he withholds funds from Blue States he is damaging millions of concervatives along with the Democrats he is trying to injure.

Exactly. Cutting SNAP benefits. Cutting In Home Health Care. Going to war (Is it a War today?) with Iran.

Behaving like a petty little Mob Boss. Do as I say or else…
