Trump Admin Reverses Politicized Testing Guidance After Interference Exposed | Talking Points Memo

I agree. I blame the cowards that in order to protect their paychecks, reneged on their duties of keeping the public safe.

I realize people have bills, need to work, job market is distressed. It’s easy to say people should summon the courage to resign. It must be hell to lay down at night knowing you’re basically a whore, doing the only thing you know how to do for money, and kicking your morals and ethics to the curb while doing it.

Conversely, I suppose a lot of people staying on actually lack morals and ethics and it bothers them not a whit.

the CDC: “gee, we wish we had not said that. our bad.”

easily available and affordable rapid tests are key to getting back to some level of normalcy. the new normalcy will still involve mask wearing, hygiene, social distancing, and avoiding large gatherings for some time to come. the rapid tests will help keep the asymptomatic spreaders out of the mix until their infection resolves.

Also, if all of the moral people in government resign, who’s left in place to start putting things back to normal under a Biden administration.

They’re doing the best they can, it’s the voters fault for putting a russkie traitor in charge, and the republican senators for utterly failing to hold him accountable.

Not enough. We need a thousand point drop , preferably mid October. Given the volatility, it wouldn’t take much.

As always, Trump backs down and now the rest of us need to clean up the mess. That’s the modern GOP for ya.

Sadly that might leave a great number of people still there.

How many times has this happened? They pull some incredibly skanky move, get caught and yelled at, and basically say haha just seeing if you’re paying attention and reverse themselves. Like they don’t have the courage of their lack of convictions.

by Deep State, do they mean the Federal Reserve?

If this were a Democratic administration, the hue and cry would be endless. Shake any tree and five Republicans would fall out bemoaning the end of the world.

There’s always more.

No effing wonder Caputo was seeing long shadows on the ceiling and had to get out.

Surprising what a little sunlight will do.

Wow. What an atmosphere they have going at the CDC. I feel horrible for what all their folks are going through.

Sheeit, Trump’s already denouncing Obama’s H1N1 response. Remember the mass graves then, the social and economic paralysis? Neither do I.

In my fifteen years of professional life, I can confidently state that I’ve never even conceptualized “obeying” my boss. What a strange word.

Petty little tyrants, all of them.

Yes, reading the article makes clear that those poor people were being browbeaten and criticized on a daily basis. Caputo and Alexander are pigs.

In the months leading up to their exits, the two had routinely worked to revise and delay the C.D.C.’s closely guarded and internationally admired health bulletins, called Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Reports, in an effort to paint the administration’s pandemic response in a more positive light.

Far from apologetic, Dr. Alexander told The Globe and Mail of Toronto this week that the C.D.C. had written “pseudoscientific reports” and that he was better suited to examine data than agency scientists.

“None of those people have my skills,” Dr. Alexander said. “I make the judgment whether this is crap.”

The judgments he rendered — and the punishments that Mr. Caputo appeared intent to mete out — had a demoralizing effect on the agency.

Note how the right-wing, conservatives, republicans and other miscreants are just fine with Trump lying in dozens of ways about a lethal virus that’s killed 200,000 Americans (and counting), yet they are massively against abortion that simply terminates a pregnancy by getting rid of a bunch of undifferentiated cells. And, while we’re at it, the right wing is also totally fine with fertility clinics disposing of fertilized embryos. But wait, aren’t those embryos people? Isn’t that glob of cells in a test tube a person? Well, it’s okay since republican women want babies. What’s a few zygotes when a little republican can be spawned?

Bingo, at this point 6 months plus in we all should have $1.00 per test bundles and be asked to test at the minimum every other day. I’d think that a bundle of 25 tests would go a very long way to getting this thing under control.

For some assholes that would be a step too far and they fervently imagine that it would lead to dictatorship.

Every damn night, my wife turns to me and says, “Who’s going to jail for all of this criminal nonsense?”

The basic foundations of American society are being fucked with, from the CDC to the Post Office.

Who’s going to jail indeed?

There’s another possibility: some people are staying on in order to prevent even worse things from happening and in the hope that sanity will be restored. If everyone who actually had a brain or expertise left, there would be no way to stop the idiots from completely corrupting the CDC. Someone has to be leaking this stuff from inside.
