Aged Orange will inflate whatever damage there is and receive gazillions for repairs, like he did previously.

Stated as if Congress has any interest in the U.S.

Does McAleenan have a fully operational crystal ball??? If Dorian has not yet wreaked its havoc and the extent of any damage is unknown, how does he know that the loss of $155M "will not impact our ability to respond to this storm or any other storms in the rest of the hurricane season (his words)?” Clearly his characterization is “spinning” (my word).

If Mexico would just agree to pay for The Wall we could call it even.

Exactly. Congress didn’t give you that money. Congress put that money into FEMA, and the Administration is legally required to spend the money in the way Congress assigned it. That’s the law. The Executive Branch exists to execute the will of the Congress.

Yes but until Congress tells him no, that money has been moved to the Wall. Nobody is enforcing the law or the constitution.

If it was anywhere but FL I would expect the same lackluster response that Puerto Rico got, but FL is so key to the 2020 election chances for Trump, and he has property there, so money will get pumped in. The problem is that FEMA is damaged, just like before Katrina, and just like with Katrina and PR there is a real potential for lots of people to die if FEMA fails in its duty. That will obviously happen in a non-white area of FL, the resources will flood into the white areas. It would be great if none of this happened, and if FEMA was amazing to all Americans…I suspect that won’t be the case, and Trump deserves to suffer for every American his shitty administration lets down.

FEMA Fund Transfer To ICE Won’t Affect Hurricane Dorian Response

Translation: There’s still enough money in there to pay for the inflated damage claims from Mar a Lago.

Lawlessness breeds lawlessness.
Chump seems to me, to be breaking laws openly now just because he has become so used to getting away with it…and the fact that republicans have now proven they will cover ANYTHING he does. Except for dirty dealings under the table, I thought he began slowly, fumbled and groped his way forward, and many of the laws broken and other flirtations with illegality were from incompetence and ignorance; plus a desire to bend rules and push boundaries.

But now he just doesn’t care anymore. He is running wild in hog country. He knows what he is doing. He doesn’t expect to be constrained by law enforcement now, and has already piled up felonies to be reckoned when he is out of office…so he is going to put his foot on the gas. Might as well.

We all remember how well recovery efforts went after Andrew hit FL. Learning Reagan had spent all the FEMA $$ on his stupid flying fortress.

Wouldn’t that be “bigly” and … er … “wetly”?

Plus cover the multi-million dollar “damage” claims for trump properties.

“It doesn’t hurt preparation, but I’m not going to say there’s no risk,” Gaynor said.

Maybe not ’ no effect’?
Gotta make book on how long til this guy gets a ‘full confidence’ and ‘wonderful job’ tweet. Only the best people. ya know.
After that, it’s only a matter of days until he’s tossed under the bus and summarily dismissed.

trump said he had never heard of a hurricane that was a category 5 before. Except 4 category 5 hurricanes have made landfall in the US since he’s been in office (source is cnn.com). Remember folks, he has a great memory.

I think he was surprised, because he had signed an executive order against calling them category 5 hurricanes anymore.

Joan Didion must’ve had this maladministration in mind when she wrote “The Year of Magical Thinking.”

...the Trump administration’s decision to [transfer](https://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/trump-administration-pull-funding-fema-ice-detention) $155 million from FEMA’s Disaster Relief Fund to ICE won’t hinder the administration’s response to Hurricane Dorian, a category 5 storm headed for the U.S.

Largely, I’m sure, because no extensive response was intended.

All of which seem to be golf courses or hotels. What a happy coincidence that must be!
