The Trump administration asked the Supreme Court to allow the government to deny asylum to Central American migrants who don’t first try to get refuge in Mexico before coming to the U.S.-Mexico border.

This has Stephen Miller’s slime-trail all over it. That said, the rest of the Nazi-enablers in the WW are no doubt down for it, if only to continue to rile the lizard-brain base that Donald hopes will Brown-shirt the Nov 2020 counts.

Ongoing war against brown-skinned and/or poor people seeking a better life is bigoted, needlessly cruel and unrelenting. Like most of these wars being waged by the right, if the resources and effort were spent in the other direction the problem would most likely be almost solved by now (think healthcare or voting rights) or would at least be going in the right direction and helping to influence the world (think climate change and mass incarceration).

The great sin of the right, risen exponentially in the Trumpocene period, is the huge waste and misdirection of all of our resources to fight science, democracy and the future. It is as if your angry and senile FOX watching uncle has been given absolute veto power in America.

Ya mean this guy? We try not to let him out of the managed care home, and he always insists on two scoops of ice cream at Thanksgiving. His daughter kinda just wishes he’d kick the bucket, but she’s afraid he’ll write her out of his will.

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken…
And all who were in the nation would have to be counted. And behold, at once there was no more room for the poor.

the administration didn’t follow proper procedure

The Supreme Court was not concerned with Trump’s earlier violation of the Administrative Procedures Act so this shouldn’t be a problem. The Lindsey Graham and Rudy line, it’s only a process crime, is the new rule of law.

Trump Regime only welcomes the ‘wretched non-nobility Europeans’ and rich immigrants but all other POC, you will rut in jail! How dare you dream of a better life for yourselves just like those wretched non-nobility Europeans or other rich immigrants?

Meanwhile, the real criminal assisted by cruel & corrupt enforcers are running our government ala sh**hole Trumpistan who is destroying the ideals of America and making Lady Liberty cry!

Why does this administration constantly have to go to the Supreme Court to ask for permission to be unkind? Would love to see a comparison to past administrations. If it did occur frequently in the past, I must not have paid attention to it.

That’s what authoritarians do…they want to change the laws to suit their pernicious agenda so to the SC they go, It’s why MoscowMitch blocked Garland and why the current senate is like a puppy mill for judges!

I get why Miller and Trump don’t want Central Americans in the U.S.; their paymasters don’t like them and they vote wrong. Bu are we really expected to believe that “crushing burden” crap? We don’t even make the top ten when it comes to refugee camps.

I wish I had something to contribute to this thread, but I am suffering from Terminal Trump Fatigue. I am tired of seeing his bloated orange visage. I am tired of hearing his whiny, petulant voice. I am tired of listening to his rodomontade and braggadocio and reading his twisted tweets. I have succumbed to Trump Outrage Overload. I need to look at pictures of kittens and puppies and hummingbirds to clear my mental palate.

Impeach the motherfucker already.

They want a permission slip from SCOTUS to start doing what they want BEFORE it’s challenged and/or the lower courts hear challenges to the law, just like they were able to do with the (revised) Trans military ban that was recently implemented? I don’t understand how/why this is a thing, like allowing possibly unconstitutional laws and/or policies to be implemented before being adjudicated in the courts seems like it would just create a lot of legal chaos and unnecessary suffering- but that’s what this horror show of an Administration is all about.

Maybe that’s 45’s ultimate goal.

To die in office so a lavish state funeral is thrown, at taxpayers’ expense, and everyone can only say nice things about him.

A guy can dream, can’t he?

What will be amazing to see is how quickly SCOTUS takes up this case whereas we’re all still waiting on a number of court decisions regarding release of information on this fucker as well as all his other asinine decrees based on his inappropriate use of emergency powers. All those decisions have apparently been relegated to the slow track of American jurisprudence for some dumb reason.

I know there are International Rules for Asylum Seekers. I thought they had to apply for asylum in the nearest country. The question is can they skip that application or is it required. So far Mexico, which is a pretty prosperous country, seems to be skating. I don’t have a bitch with the asylum seekers, but I would like an explanation of Mexico’s efforts to deal with the issues on their Southern border.

Anybody have anything to say that isn’t just snark. I would like to know how the rules apply.
