My MIL passed of dementia a few years ago. For the last few months all she wanted was coffee and ice cream. We had to tell the staff, look this isn’t getting better. If she wants ice cream please give her ice cream. It made her happy which was as good as it was going to get.

Eric lost $600 million in 10 months? What a loser. I haven’t lost $600 million in my entire life.

The rise in accidents, incidents and deaths was inevitable. Welcome to the Russia of the Western Hemisphere.

The number of US chemical accidents is rising just as the Trump administration guts protections against the disasters, a new analysis of federal data by the Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (Peer) non-profit found.

The report found the number of chemical accidents, explosions, fires and other emergencies that release chemicals into the atmosphere was up by at least 51% since 2021. Deaths and injuries were up at least 20%.

The report comes on the heels of two high-profile emergencies, including a malfunctioning chemical tank in Garden Grove, California, which caused the evacuation of more than 40,000 residents. The recent collapse of another chemical tank at a plant in Longview, Washington, killed 11 workers.

So how long can we sustain protecting our military bases in Gulf country allies with $2M patriot missiles vs. $30,000 Iranian drones before the attrition becomes unacceptable?

Iran’s ballistic missiles are more expensive, but it’s still a question of who has the larger stockpile of attack vs. defense munitions, and who can outlast the other combatant. The US can’t draw down its stock of THAAD and Patriots too far, because they’re needed in other parts of the world.

Her father’s name was Glyndwr, with some kind of squiggly line over the “w.”

As in Glyndŵr, after Owain Glyndŵr, a Welsh prince who led a revolt against English rule in the 15th Century. Owain was the last Welsh Prince of Wales.
