Trump Activates National Guard | Talking Points Memo

Not familiar with those. If we’re going to the stronger taste side, I’d love a good sipping rum like I used to be able to get easily when I lived in Florida. A nice aged Brugal, Cruzan, or Zaya.

The only rum they sell in the stores up here in my WA small town is flavored crap like Captain Morgan (retch!) or boring Bacardi. I can find decent rum in the liquor specialty stores, but it’s a long drive from here.

Now that’s a shame about the rum. Of the flavored we won’t speak but the real stuff ranges from swill to one of the most delightful spirits you can drink. Try Ron Matusalem if you ever can, the regular dark, not the riserva. The wood it’s aged in gives it a lovely vanilla tinge. I discovered it on vacation in Florida, in the Keys, actually, because you know how they are about rum down there. Cruzan dark is my everyday rum. Easy to find, easy to drink. Again, sorry for your predicament. Can one of those very nice WA wines take the sting out of it?

That creates the question, here, now that there have been several days of no bars, parties and so on, just how cranky is everyone? On the other hand, people who are still working may find they are keeping more of their paycheck suddenly.

ATTN Co-Vid 19!!! Disperse immediately!!! You will be shot on sight!

I thought that the National Guard (despite the name) was under the control of state governors.

Well, a mere week ago he was calling the Governor of Washington a snake and saying that two other Democratic Governors had to work harder. So, you couldnt expect him to become all magnanimous all of a sudden.

“Mr. Trump placed National Guard units from California, New York and Washington under Title 32 authority. This means the troops from these states will still be under the control of their state’s governors but will be supporting a federal mission, much like the roughly 2,200 National Guard soldiers currently on the southern border.

And dog knows we still need those National Guard troops on the southern border to keep the caravans of coronavirus from coming into the country.

Indeed. The governors activate the National Guard in their states.

He’s trying to piggy-back on their decisions while doing nothing!

We need him to activate FEMA, Army Corp of Engineers & DPA!

He’s not doing that!

Actually, it’s gibbonish.

How else do you think he’s able to sorta communicate with his adoring wife, her being a rhesus macaque that’d undergone entirely too many botox studies and all?

Well…we all know the ultimate sure fire way to avoid being prosecuted…but he is too chickenshit…

“And again, when you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that’s a pretty good job we’ve done."
— [Donald Trump]

West Virginia is showing 16 cases as of 8pm tonight.

Now EVERY state has at least 15 confirmed cases. So within a couple of days every state is going to be down to close to zero.

And then we can all go out and have a drink …

Excuse me, Rhesus Macaques inhabit the island of Cayo Santiago off of Punta Santiago, Humacao. They have nobly served as a scientific research colony for about 80 years. They clearly have more value to humanity than anyone in the Trump family. And I frankly resent your deligitimization of Rhesus Macaques via this analogy.

Trump is deliberately slow walking aid to WA - he HATES Inslee going back to the dem debate wherein Inslee, asked what was the greatest danger to America, answered that Trump was. Bigly insult to the Orange One - President Malevolently Stupid is punishing his enemy. Simple.

The local wine helps, yes. It’s a good part of the country for that, at least!

Even funnier when you consider how much “white supremacist” and “police” overlap.

Yes, and both Christianity and Buddhism (for the most part, one must always say when talking about such diverse traditions) use the postmortem justice argument to finesse the question of theodicy. That people get their just desserts after their death (or the dissolution of one’s five aggregates) is much more believable.

Not so the idea of just desserts in one’s lifetime – if Harvey Weinstein gets ill today it is plausible, but when Donald Trump stays healthy tomorrow you realize there is a flaw in the system. But if you say that Weinstein will be reborn as a hell demon with microscopic private parts, and Trump as an orangutan with alopecia areata, that is not disprovable.
