President Donald Trump dribbled his weakest yet denunciation of the crowd’s “send her back” chants over his Saturday morning tweet — that he was not “particularly happy” with the cries — before fully embracing the chanters as “patriotic” people who “love the USA!”
People are saying, Sir, thank you for your hole, it is very deep, and large, and ten times bigger than Crooked Hillary’s hole. And it will only get bigger, believe me!
Many people are saying* that he will sink far lower and intensify his racism and bigotry to validate himself with his mob of cult followers and incite them. Believe me!**

**All forecasts are provisional, but this one has an excellent chance of happening.
I’m actually afraid of what is going to happen at his next rally. The media will have to make sure that there are no obvious targets within its ranks, because Trump just let loose the hounds…
Why would trump handle the chant when it was 100% staged and conducted: you can hear the chant get cut off before Trump “quickly” starts ranting again, so there had to be staff starting and stopping the chant. The racist POS White House 100% planned and owns this.
I agree with M. Yglesias here. For Trump, this is not a hole, it’s a strategy, to increase the salience of race in the election. Trump wants to racialize politics. Any gestures he makes that seem to lower the temperature are only feints, meant to allow the bar to cool a little bit before he wacks it further in a racial direction.
This rally reminded me of many Trump rallies from 2016. Once while driving across Indiana I had the experience of listening to a live broadcast of one of them, and was horrified. But that was when I still naively thought that he couldn’t win with such appeals. He can, did, and will if the media in particular is not careful with how it allows itself to be instrumentalized as a tool to further make this all about race.
I’m guessing his goal was to reiterate to his supporters that they should see (and present) themselves as “patriotic.” He doesn’t see himself as being in a hole, at all.
