Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier of the U.S. Space Force was fired on Friday for claiming the Department of Defense has an agenda “rooted in Marxism” because of its diversity trainings.

I know some Marxists who would find this very amusing.

ETA: first?

Sounds like that guy’s been huffing too many solvents.

ETA: Yep, @grack you’re the first one out of the gate this morning.:+1:

Gee, being a Lt. Col. has a low bar for “critical” thinking.

“The diversity, inclusion and equity industry and the trainings we are receiving in the military … is rooted in critical race theory, which is rooted in Marxism,” Lohmeier told Wood.

This is fun game that anyone can play. Here’s my entry:

The changes in buildings from classical to modern architecture… is rooted in Marxism.

Monopolistic capitalism, with all the resources concentrated in the hands of the few elites… is rooted in Marxism.

Anytime the Dallas Cowboys manage to win the Super Bowl… it’s rooted in Marxism.

I just love saying “Space Force”. Space Force Space Force Space Force Space Force!

You know, he may have a point. One of the most celebrated units of the US Army, the 1st Infantry Division, is nicknamed The Big Red One. Clearly stealth Marxism at play.

It is unthinkable that a serving military officer can write an ideological screed like that. As a former congressional staffer, I ordinarily had a lot more latitude that a member of the military, but that sort of thing would have been forbidden to me as well. I’m sure the right will see him as a persecuted member of the military who fell afoul of pc.

And note: he’s denouncing socialism. Yet he takes advantage of a 20-year retirement, free lifetime health care, housing allowances, food allowances, commissary privileges (like the special stores the Soviet nomenklatura had), free fitness centers, golf courses, etc.

The US military is now the most socialist enterprise on earth. I doubt this guy wants to give up his benefits. It’s just that we, who pay his salary, can’t have things like good, affordable health care or decent retirement benefits.

Space Force: Season 2 looks like it’s going to be interesting

So does that make the colonel a space cadet? A space case? Maybe just an empty suit. Clearly, his brain was eaten by aliens.

It just made sense to put a space case in charge of …Space Force!!

They’ll have to have a new staffer named Groucho, I think.

The only thing these idiots know about Marxism is that it sounds scarier than socialism.

This should make our adversaries happy. Senior military leadership infested with MAGA lunacy. The other day a group of 150 or so ex general officers submitted a wingnut letter to some place. As I read it I wondered if any were in command of me in Vietnam…a war we lost. I’m sure many had command in Iraq and Afghanistan…wars were in the slow process of losing. Maybe even a few Korean War brass was in on it. Another failed project. I couldn’t help thinking that may…just maybe…having politically polluted military leaders might be the problem?

Why not just shit can that entire goofy space force along with that wingnut. It’s an embarrassment.

‘Critical race theory is a study of how systemic racism intersects with social and economic inequality and, despite Lohmeier’s claims, is not “rooted in Marxism.”’

Not only is critical race theory not “rooted in” Marxism, it’s fundamentally at odds with it as an explanation of the structure of society. This is sort of like saying behaviorism is rooted in Freudian psychology or allopathic medicine is rooted in Ayurveda. But who cares, I suppose—the minds of idiots like Lohmeier are just totally disordered messes.

I didn’t even know Groucho Marx was into football. And why wasn’t he a Giants fan?

And that much of what Marx predicted about unrestrained capitalism came to be. He predicted wealth aggregation, a 1% and gross inequality. Voila!!!

Surprised he didn’t scream about fluoridation stealing our precious bodily fluids.

So, Trump’s personal pet project is chock full of idiot, fascists?

Shock.

Just like the shock I felt when it turned out The Wall was just a boondoggle for Trump’s buddies.

I’ve never been convinced the that “Space Force” was anything more than a rebranding of some segments of the Air Force. Y’know new stationery, new decals on the trucks and so on. Just the same people in the same offices doing what they’ve always done.
