Top GOPer Pours Cold Water On Trump’s WH Acceptance Speech Idea: ‘Is That Even Legal?’

Senate Majority Whip John Thune (R-SD) doesn’t seem to be on board with President Donald Trump’s potential plan to give his nomination speech at the White House during the Republican National Convention (RNC).

Q: Since when does any Republican suddenly care if tRump does something illegal concerning an election, especially if they know he might lose?

A: When they’re not running for re-election and afraid he’ll turn his tweets against them. That’s when.

Thune is a human being? A real Senator?? Wha? Wha?? I thought he was a cardboard cut out placed behind Trump with all of the other silent, subservient, Repub card board cut outs. Wha? Wha??

Increases the chances of him doing it…

The President and VP are both exempt from the Hatch Act, so they can do and promote political stuff whenever they want. However, every other employee at the White House and the rest of the Executive Branch is prohibited from using their positions to do or promote political stuff, or to do so while they are on duty. And I fail to see how the White House can be prepared for such an event without the assistance of the people who work there.

“Is that even legal?” A phrase that has never ever once passed through Donnie’s tiny brain…

But tRump soliciting the Ukrainian President in a quid pro quo before giving his country money the Congress has appropriated to defend itself from the onslaught of Russian aggression…yeah, John Thune had no problem with that.

I can’t figure out why McConnell and Blunt, and other members of the Republican leadership team have him there, he does tend to tower over everyone else. I hope it makes them feel small and ugly.

“I assume that’s not something that you could do. I assume there’s some Hatch Act issues or something.”

In Florida I think they’d call it “Baker Act issues or something”.

OK, I’ll click. But the only thought in my mind is “where did I see this headline before?”

Given all that has gone before during his administration, why can’t he?

As Trump’s numbers get worse and it looks more and more like Biden’s going to win, look for GOP critters to dampen down on any Trump gambits that might set a precedent for Biden to use against the GOP. A precedent broken is a precedent set.

Good point. Maybe it’ll be a bunch of gophers on his campaign that set it up. They presumably aren’t being paid for by the taxpayer. Wonder who will provide oversight of that however. Jump ball.

Maybe he could do it in a second grade classroom full of students.

He is, but sometimes a balloon with words comes out of where his cardboard mouth is.

From the You Can’t Make This Stuff Up File for the rest of the week if not month.

“The complaint from union officials says the group, which is run by a born-again Christian survivor of sex trafficking and operates a safe house for adult trafficking victims, got its grant due to political favoritism.”

Just a thought: He accepts the nomination at the WH, then loses the election - consider the optics for future Repub nominees for anything. A political ad field day.

Is that like a stitch in time save nine? I wonder who’ll have that needle-pointed on a pillow?

While reading my pet goat? I’m not sure tRump is that literate.
