I wonder if Trump is not doing this to sabotage the Georgia runoff election as a way to punish McConnell for declaring that Biden is President-elect.
If “I” were to become the new President, I would make it a rule that NOBODY in my administration could utter the word Trump.
If the GOP can outlaw the words Global Warming, the Dems can say, ANYBODY who uses the word Trump has to pay $1 towards the American Debt.
We’ll see if that cuts into the Debt!
I totally agree with Senator Toomey… I would, however, submit that the balance of the sentence following and including the word ‘if’ should be stricken.
The idea that Trump can salvage the judgement of history by signing this bill is just more Republican magical thinking.
Members of the Republican Party are trying to have it every way imaginable, but facts will counter otherwise. No matter how “reasonable” Senator Toomey appears now, my questions to him and all the Senate Republicans are, "Where were you 325,000 US fatalities ago? Where were you when Russian Intelligence agencies executed a cyber attack on t6he US? Where were you when the fundamental rights of US citizens were intentionally and programmatically attacked by the Republican Party at both the state and national levels?
And then we have a “moderate” Republican (a relatively new oxymoron) "One of the obstacles, Romney said, is a media environment in which different Americans now consume entirely different facts. "
Wow. Let’s unpackage that one. That is the lie, the problem. There are not different facts, but lies of omission or distortion by not giving all of the facts. The latter are intentional, hence lies. We have accepted as a country and a people that media can distort reality without responsibility or consequences. Facts are real. Furthermore, too few citizens apparently have the capability to differentiate between lies and true facts, because of poor reasoning skills or wishful thinking because they don’t know how to respond and feel overwhelmed.
Whether we like the facts or not, or whether we know how to respond to facts and move forward or not, enters the realm of politics and policy. But it is not, and never has been, the facts themselves. This political tail-saving explanation needs to be called out every time it is offered, and eliminated from acceptance.
Time to stop playing games, as ignoring facts has already led to the deaths of over 325,000 US citizens, with current daily death rates equal to or greater than the number of citizens killed on 9/11. Numbness to numbers doesn’t carry it - we need to truthfully define the problem and follow best expert advice, where experts are those who have earned their reputations in their particular fields, not by some pathetic political appointment process. Once again, the latter is, as far as I’m concerned, equivalent to first degree manslaughter. Political leaders know what reality is, and their avoidance of acting upon it should never be forgotten. Any life is too valuable to think otherwise.
This one seems genuinely worried.
Maybe having announced he’ll retire, Toomey is the designated scolder as the game clock runs out.
It’s the pivot we’ve been expecting…for years.
The ends [1] justify the means [2].
Harsh, but fair.
If that was/is Trump’s intent, I wish him success.
Serious success
But if Toomey is appealing to Trump’s vanity, there’s no telling where this will end!
Whether we remember him or not we will spend years rebuilding on his rubble.
It’s Toomey (and McConnell) that delayed the bill long enough for a pocket veto. Look in the mirror for the cause you gas bag.
Apparently, when a Republican decides not to seek reelection, he gets one vertebra instead of the traditional gold watch with Ronald Reagan’s image on the case. I just wish that the vertebrae weren’t in such short supply that they had to be rationed so severely and unavailable to the rest of the spineless bastards.
Right! We get to this next of many shit storms of the last four years and you just now, on this last Sunday of the fourth year, decide to get “religion”?
It’s a little late to save YOUR ass, Senator.
The Christmas season appears to have gotten to you; you’re just being nice.
Goes without saying, but an appeal to Trump considering his legacy is wasted hot air. Trump constructs his own reality in his head, and then uses his idiot savant marketing talent to try imposing it on the world. He will always think he was the bestest President in US history. Way better than Obama.
And because he’s good at marketing to the rubes, at least 20% of Americans will believe that too. They’ll believe it even if they end up with $600 stimulus checks instead of $2,000 ones. It’s mass hypnosis on an unprecedented scale.
Seriously, that ship has sailed…and it was on his best day.
LOL really says it all. Bravo, sign guy.
If we do not get a handle on unthinking Tribalism, we are in for a rough ride. I believe that we can.
I also believe that we are consigned to failure if we say, “We can’t”
