Having taken more than my share of speed in my youth, I can tell you that this behavior lines up directly with abuse of the drug - whatever it may be, Adderall or some other stimulant. It only stimulates for a short period of time. After a few days, you start to feel like gravity has increased on you no matter how much you bump the dose, and your thought processes slow down like a car with an empty tank trying to run on fumes.
You can fault Vance for being a pathetic coward and for putting his ambitions over his honor, and I do, but if he’d answered that question with the truth, he’d have joined Pence on the bench.
