Few things would make me as happy as to see people who promote conspiracy theories meant to undermine public health thrown in prison. Seems like in a time of a national emergency such a law could pass. Would be nice then to declare a national emergency over climate change when a Democratic president is in place just to shut them up for good.

To be honest, unless these people are threatened with jail time, they will gladly continue to spew nonsense. Even if that means someone loses their life. We need to seriously consider the “Freedom of Speech” argument and deploy an agency which checks for basic facts in news prints, or tv or any media which can reach 500 or more people. If FDA can police all drug makers, and not allow false assertions and claims then why can’t we have an equivalent agency issuing fines, and then jail time for news organizations and think tanks. Without FDA you will have all sorts of snake oil salesmen swarming us and the same can be clearly seen here in news orbit. There is no shortage of people willing to sell disinformation, regardless of their consequences.
