The Supreme Court Will Decide If Domestic Abuse Orders Can Bar People From Having Guns. Lives Could Be At Stake.

For women who have been shot and killed with a gun because some asshole had a few natty ices and dreamed of frustrated glory and blamed them, hope is dead.

Yes.

I can’t forget this unbelievable-but-true occurrence.
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/27/us/pregnant-woman-shot-marshae-jones.html
The police have said she was culpable because she started the fight that led to the shooting and failed to remove herself from harm’s way.

“The only true victim in this was the unborn baby,” Lt. Danny Reid of the Pleasant Grove Police Department said after the shooting in December, AL.com reported. “It was the mother of the child who initiated and continued the fight which resulted in the death of her own unborn baby.”

“One only wishes Wayne LaPierre and his NRA board of directors could be drafted to some of these scenes, where they would be required to put on booties and rubber gloves and help clean up the blood, the brains, and the chunks of intestine still containing the poor wads of half-digested food that were some innocent bystander’s last meal.” ― Stephen King, Guns

And, I would add, are there any restrictions to owning the weapon of your choice? Meaning, are the weapons we legally own only limited by our bank balance?

Certainly SCOTUS has constitutionally certified “arms” that our forefathers never envisioned. So, how far does that go? Can someone own tanks, military aircraft or naval vessels with all their warheads?

First of all, do not say “Nine” when only six of them are members of the GOP death cult.

And second, I have said it before and I will say it again now and every time in the future when our judiciary does something monstrous:

Buttery males.

Or, they have no particular reason at all. They will just snarl at the objections and say all of they are all ridiculous.

Good Gawd. Everywhere the police cars with ‘In God We Trust’ too.

Correct, I don’t see the NRA selected Supremes voting on a ban, though they could just prevent domestic abusers from getting bullets.

There are nine of them, not six.

Justices Jackson, Kagan, and Sotomayor didn’t ask for the job of Philosopher Regnant, but they have the job anyway thanks to their six colleagues who are members in good standing of the GOP death cult.

“Could speeders be stripped of their right to keep and bear arms?” 5th Circuit Judge Cory Wilson wrote for the court. “Political nonconformists? People who do not recycle or drive an electric vehicle?”

This is exactly the kind of facile BS DEBATE ME conservatives–born and bred in college test tubes to do radicalism – love. Simplistic reductio ad absurdum arguments that actual conservatism doesn’t believe in, because actual conservatism recognizes that – HELLO – society is capable of making distinctions and gradations between BS edge cases and actual problems. And so women have to die so this entitled sophomore can be 100% sure liberals won’t take guns from non-recyclers. It’s so infuriatingly insulting and juvenile, and utterly of piece with the fake intellect of the MAGA movement.

I’ll go one step further. Historically, one of the reasons some very smart 18th century conservatives didn’t want written constitutions – and one reason a lot of very enlightened states don’t have them – is precisely to turn back philosopher-king BSers like this who want to use their tendentious reading of the letter of the law to defeat its spirit. And now we have radical justices who want to exploit that power to gratify their ego at the expense of human lives.

And yet in 2022 48% of the women (55% of the white ones) voted Republican, 3 percentage points more than 2020. So Republicans must be doing something right.

Forgive my pessimism but I’m pretty sure Jackson, Kagan, and Sotomayor have the job of Permanent Minority since, at age 54, I don’t expect to live long enough to see the damage done to the Federal Judiciary by the MAGA freaks to be fixed in my lifetime.

Buttery males.

Also I would point out that the liberals have known damn well for years that Thomas and Alito have been taking bribes the entire time, and for some reason I cannot fathom they refuse to speak out. WTAF?!?

White Christians love unborn black people. They start hating the moment they are born.

Don’t lecture me about Hillary Clinton. I voted for her. I urged every person I knew of voting age to vote for her. I sent her campaign money.

And if Jackson, Kagan, and Sotomayor don’t want the job of Philosopher Regnant they need to decide to say “fuck the collegial bullshit” and to start speaking plainly and frankly about the apparent corruption on the court. Thomas and Alito are obvious cases. Gorsuch’s hands aren’t clean. Someone put up a significant chunk of specie to pay off Kavanaugh’s debts. And Chief Justice Roberts has a spousal problem that’s in occultation only because Virginia Thomas is also a court spousal problem.

I would say that the “Give [them] somebody to look down on, and [they’ll] empty [their] pockets for you” comes into play here. It’s not that the GOP is doing anything right, but they are giving people a target to make them feel superior to.

Why do convicted Felons lose their right the bear arms? Where does it say that in the 2A?

Too bad they don’t have anyone on that Court who has an opinion on the importance of born life.

Seriously they really could use a judge with experience working a domestic violence docket. The idea that a person with a history of domestic violence can’t be barred from having a firearm is nothing short of insane.
