We used to joke about how if Obama said don’t eat this or stand there or pee on that and so forth they would rush to do it. Now they’re doing a mortally reckless thing precisely because it’s perceived as liberal not to.
Of the many disqualifying actions that jackass committed prior to his election, this was one of the most despicable.
This is a fascinating (and terrible naturally) development.
And let’s not forget that Rudy Jr thinks he’s gonna be governor of NY. Which, I do believe, shows that lunacy runs in his genes.
Jenna is about 80% crazy in a Rudy / Sidney / Lin way
… but then she about 20% something else - that glassy eyed stare … the robotic synthesized responses - including the synthetic snark … kind of that haywire as a result of having been held as a brainwashed captive in a cult for 10 years … or the recovering victim of some abuse about which she will not speak … or maybe an oddly programed Aryan / Stepford-style sleeper agent.
Yeah, and it’s just going to get more pronounced as the delta variant propagates in the unvaxxed red states.
But, hey, they wanna play Darwin Roulette, I say, let 'em.
The argument will almost certainly evolve to: The COVID virus is disproportionally killing anti-vaxxers (Republicans) who refuse to be vaccinated. We, therefore, must discontinue the discriminatory practice of vaccinating people.
The argument will be decided in the Supreme Court 6-3 in favor of anti-vaxxers.
True: but only because their audiences grant them that power. Their listeners and watchers believe what they want to believe. I’m not saying that regular TPM commenters can’t be fooled. However, we are unlikely to unquestioningly accept a statement that goes against our knowledge and experience or seems illogical: even if it comes from someone we trust and respect. We will look for confirmation from other highly credible or objective sources. Conservative media personalities provide MAGA supporters reassurance that they were right to hate the people they have always hated.
I have no problem with this outcome.
Now, I wonder which of the justices are not vaxxed – didn’t Amy Coney Gilead get the alpha version at that Rose Garden do, along with her kiddies? Perhaps they’ll have a breakthrough infection of delta.
Actually, under a priesthood’s authority. An unelected one, at that.
based upon careful analysis & testing at Duke University - that is not an operable function of this Giuliani
It’s been pointed out before, but natural selection eliminates those that are unfit to reproduce. It’s the next generation that enters the Darwinian race. Of course, Darwin’s theory of natural selection doesn’t and shouldn’t be applied to humans, but it’s a useful metaphor.
Cheers!
I’m going to be calm, at least before I read it, because a lot of politically active fundies have been openly theocratic for decades, and because it’s easy to write a newspaper story more or less based on facts that presents some scary assertion about something that might happen (but probably won’t).
While I’m politically sympathetic, I do have a problem with allowing the virus to continue to cruise around amongst the unvaccinated. Unfortunately, its hosts are providing the virus with an opportunity to mutate into a form that again becomes a danger to all of us. It’s what really makes the anti-vax crowd pernicious.

You have a Constitutional right to be pernicious. It’s what makes the United States a shining city on the hill.

Yeah, I’ve noticed that many of my fellow countrymen on the right have taken that to heart.
We can say the same thing about trump**. Except the part about any family feeling obligated to care much about him.

Those refusing to get vaccinated are primarily Republican, and largely clustered in Red states. I wholeheartedly endorse the concept of Darwinism and evolution being a critical factor in winnowing out the population of inferior humans.
The thing is as the summer goes on and people like me sitting here vaccinated in MO are watching and waiting to see if any Republican pols from SW MO get the COVID. Well the legislative session is over, C-PAC is done- quite a few MO pols attended, so we’ll see if they practiced what they preached about personal responsibility and vaccinations.
Unfortunately, “Darwin Roulette” won’t cut it in a world with 7.8 billion people (despite Newsmax’s recent obsession with culling the herd. We had the number of polio cases down to around 800 globally in 2018, and a similar approach to suppression should the goal of covid policy. The acute phase of pandemics lasts about 2 years, but the longer term effects are several decades, or even centuries. I think we should listen to the scientists, who already are using the term COVID-21. The US has a very low level of scientific literacy for an advanced economy. This reflects deeper structural problems that will take decades, even generations, to address.
