How long until we fire upon Sri Lanka for rendering assistance in cases like this? Then WWIII?
I’m just wondering, whether this sinking without rescue was legal, given how far outside the theater of battle this occurred. certainly, we do not wish to return the enemy combatant to active duty or to further put our on sailors in harm’s way, but don’t we want them to treat our military in a humane manner, if captured?

It would seem Vladie stands to gain financially and in terms of his ability to wage war on Ukraine from the increased market for Russian oil.
At the moment, there is no reason to fear loss of Russian influence in Iran.
With no significant down side, he could’ve been part of planning this.

How many Dems will vote to approve both use of force and further funding? Because I don’t think it’s zero. Most of them are giving ‘process’ objections, while making sure to say how much they hate the Iranian regime and think the world would be better without it. That leads me to believe they’ll vote for an AUMF if it comes up and I don’t believe Dems have the spine to not vote for more military spending while troops are in harms way. They’re gonna end up giving him full ‘bipartisan’ cover for the most unpopular war in the country’s history. And god only knows what he’ll do with it.

Here’s a thought: tie up any war funding with all sorts of good ideas: restore Medicaid funding, rescind tax cuts for the ultra rich, restrictions and safeguards on ICE and the border patrol, and a time limit on the funding so the Trump regime doesn’t get a forever war.
Democrats need to stop thinking inside the box and instead tying the hands of the Trump regime.

The proper and legal (as far as that goes in war) thing to do, would be for the US military to request a rescue from the nearest available resource capable of doing it. In this case Sri Lanka. That may have been done, we don’t know yet.
ETA: It may or may not have been reasonable for the sub to do it. Not much room and limited medical facilities on a nuclear attack sub, or security forces to deal with enemy combatants.

How are we supposed to be angry with Trump if the Republican congressional leadership refuses to call the war with Iran a war? I am really angry with the Republican congressional leadership. They are the ones who need to be held accountable. Everybody keeps blaming Trump for being a wanna be dictator. I blame Johnson. Weakest speaker ever.
