This is how I felt after the most sacred holy day of the big “Nine Eleven.” When the Biggest Bully on the Block got its nose bloodied and immediately began thrashing around, attacking people who were not responsible, torturing the innocent (and for what it’s worth, we Americans do not torture the guilty, either), condemning hundreds of millions of people who practice the “wrong” religion, and reverting to baby talk about “bad guys.”
It was a disillusioining, nightmarish time back then. But this, as you note, is much worse.
