One might naively think that a law enforcement officer might, ya know, be less likely to break the law. Maybe that’s true in general. However, local scandal:
Former Bernalillo County (New Mexico) sheriff Darren White is currently running for Mayor of Albuquerque. It turns out that, since 2022, he’s claimed residency in Florida and has the utility bills and drivers license to “prove” it – so he can get the $50,000 “homestead” tax break on his beachfront vacation house there.

More fun facts: White was Public Safety Director under Governor Gary Johnson (who ran for President a few times), but resigned when Johnson began advocating for the legalization of marijuana. Later, after resigning as Public Safety Officer in Albuquerque after a scandal, he set himself up in the marijuana business.

A conficted felon honors a man who has been elected to lead an association designed to protect the Constituion after he, tried overthrow that government over a free and fair election because he and his other cohorts didn’t like the results.

Sheriffs will now be empowered over Governors, especially “blu states.” Already headed for confrontation w/ Gov. Pritzker over whether sherrifs need carry out duty by law of registering automatic weapons owners. Anyway, if my nieghbor owned an assault automatic weapon id want to know if he had a permit. Illinois sherrffs in many Illinois counties are part of this mob who are second amenders… even in subdivisions loaded with kids…. Around there in Illinois some sherriffs are just outright flagrant and derelict carrying out illinois state law regarding personal weaponry….

Constitutional sheriffs believe it is their role to enforce their interpretation of the Constitution. Even though there is NO MENTION of Sheriff in the Constitution.
We have plenty of theses knuckleheads in counties outside the Chicago area.
