Otherwise, I’d have to posit that they see the US government as a separate, near parasitic growth on the polity, one which stands in competition with the states, extracts tribute in the form of ‘taxes’ and uses those monies for purposes often at odds with the welfare of its constituent parts.
Yes, that kinda sounds like the Trump Organization; but, then, people usually understand the world from that which they know best.

Meanwhile, our idiot trailer trash downstairs neighbors continue to not engage in responsible social distancing and all the other things, routinely going outside without masks, meeting up with friends to smoke joints in their cars, talking face to face with relatives who drive by to say hello, no one wearing masks. Today they tried to steal our trash bin cover. Theirs blew away in a storm last year yet despite it’s sitting in the middle of the street all day, none of them bothered to fetch it. I literally don’t understand people who are ok with being or prefer to be low-class, not financially, but socially.

I’m picturing tRump’s staff asking themselves, are you sure we can do another update, is there really any new information to add? And, someone says, it gives him something to look forward to, he can’t go golfing, to Mar la Gogo and can’t do live rallies. He has to have something to do to show America just how great he is.

Guess all have heard about HSS Comfort in NYC. Apparently, it is also “our” hospital ship, and you cannot get on it unless you can document you are non-COVID (only 15-20 non-COVID patients to date).
A real life Catch-22. They do not test for COVID at the ship, so you have to go to a hospital (in spite of being in dire need of non-COVID hospitalization), to beg for a test and potentially get infected while (if) you get COVID +/- results.
Days later, if still alive, you take those results back to the ship.
Of course you could be infected now.
(start the process over)

PBS is starting The Roosevelts by Ken Burns. Not a huge Burns fan but at this point I’ll take about anything as a distraction.
