Right. As long as Gaetz stays out of prison, his fundraising will go through the roof.
For Republican voters, criminal or deviant behavior in a candidate is a plus, a sign that the practitioner is “owning the libs.” If Gaetz somehow stays out of prison permanently (not unthinkable: as far as state charges, the Florida judiciary is eminently corruptible, and who knows if he were to draw a Trump appointee as judge on federal charges) the sky is the limit for him politically in today’s GOP.

Lothrop said that she is preparing a statement to be published Tuesday, reiterating that Gaetz is still invited to the event and has the city party’s support.
