We have been over funding the defense department for decades, long before Donald Trump. See Dwight Eisenhowers speech about the military industrial complex. Once the cold war ended we should have demilitarized but didn’t. That is why the American people can’t have nice things. Blame Congress.

Trump and the Republicans are tied at the hip to the oil industry. Remember “drill baby drill.”. No chance that we will pursue alternatives until they are gone.
If I were a billionaire, I would have a lovely villa on a Caribbean beach, maybe the Mediterranean too and spend the hot summer traveling the world, with experienced guides, flying first class and you would never see me on TV.

Looking toward the future that may be impinging, were I a billionaire, I would be so surrounded by tight security that I might as well be imprisoned. I guess old TV shows might widen my enclosed horizons; so there’s that.
