The Long, Hot Summer of Trump II Depredations

If this kind of thing keeps up, it’s hard to imagine the 2028 Olympics will be held in the United States. The rest of the world won’t stand for it; all their athletes… and visitors… will be at risk of some kind of mistreatment.

Court orders are for little people.

I’m genuinely shocked that kapo Miller is not still flying plane loads of people to CECOT - that seems to be the only court order TSF is obeying. I suspect he’s almost as loathed by other TSF groupies as he is by normal people.

The Secret Service can’t use a canoe? It was good enough for Lewis and Clark?

That ship sailed in Cockholster’s first reign. Indeed, they simply quit sharing sensitive intel and, I’ll bet dollars to donuts, actually planted fake stuff to help them identify and track the leaks. Foreign intelligence services no doubt have high confidence they’re dealing with hand-picked idiots in the US.

Had to go make sure I remembered that correctly. I think your applications is actually better than the string theory applications.

It’s a scale problem. Neither evolution nor relativity for most people operate at the scale of individual lifetimes and our location on the surface of the earth. So no urgent need to know about it. It’s fascinating information, but not everyone has the curiosity gene for things that don’t relate directly to their daily life.

Climate change has a scale problem too. Discrete local events like wildfires and hurricanes get attention, but the scale of what’s coming is something people can’t relate to, or don’t want to hear about because it involves more than individual lifetimes.

Mitigation efforts aren’t really about stopping the changes that are coming in the next 50-100 years, That’s baked into the planet already. it’s about preventing it from being even worse after that. In other words, for future generations. A scale problem beyond single lifetimes and therefore a hard sell, and something environmentalists don’t usually mention. Republicans and the fossil fuel industry are taking advantage of this, of course.

If illegal immigrants don’t exist because we don’t count them, that makes it harder for trump to demagogue them.

And none of this really matters because he won’t be president for the 2030 census. Any Dem who replaces him can reverse his meddling pretty easily.

Whatever level of cynical pandering or whatever might be attached to it, one has to admit that Newsom has read the room and understands the assignment. It is beyond time to FIGHT.

HAVE POWER? WIELD POWER.

THAT is what we want to see and what is needed. He needs to press ahead with redistricting CA GOP representatives out of existence REGARDLESS of what TX does. So do NY, IL and others. We need to stop waiting for the find out stage to arrive organically and instead manufacture it in a deliberate and coldly calculated manner such that the KKKristofascists are driven to the kinds of extremism and abuses that will finally wake this fucking country out of its complacency coma.

F.B.I. Will Help Find Texas Lawmakers Who Fled State, Cornyn Says

Senator John Cornyn, a Republican, said the agency had agreed to help track down Democratic state lawmakers who left Texas to prevent a vote on new congressional district maps.

Question: Will the Oklahoma sales tax be broad based enough to include items such as, uh bibles? Religious items are pretty much exempt from sales taxes. Additionally when you factor in grocery taxes which are quite regressive the average Oklahoman will feel the burden.

Let’s not be too literal. You know what I meant. Attach “for purposes of redistricting” to the end of it if it helps. Doublethink takes care of any cognitive dissonance anyway. And it has some additional advantages, because unknown numbers are very convenient…unknowns are scarier, prevent any concrete goals from being demanded or set, allow the demagogues to perpetuate the perception of the problem existing forever and will assist in their efforts to cover up what they’re doing as they sweep up brown citizens into the mix.

Still entertaining this fantasy that there will be free and fair elections going forward? At best, that remains to be seen. IMNSHO they’re not letting that happen unless violence forces it upon them.
