So there are undocumented migrants that have tax ID numbers and pay taxes. If Trump and Miller get their way then those people who do pay taxes will not have “representation”. Wasn’t there some kerfuffle awhile back that decried “No Taxation Without Representation”?

Baseball is in the DNA of my family. This gent was my great grandfather. (Kenesaw Mountain Landis). Avowed racist and first commissioner of Baseball. He kept Jackie Robinson out of the big leagues as long as he could. The comment I was taught growing up was “over my dead body” and that’s what happened. I am not proud of his racist beliefs but he did clean up baseball from the “Blacksox Scandal of 1919”. I was taught he was a severe judge and never brooked lying. Even off the bench and that custom has been handed down to me. The severe nature of the man is evident in his face.
My tiny “village” where I grew up had 5 baseball diamonds. Little league was played there courtesy of Walter “Smokey” Alston who was the manager of the Dodgers from 1948-1975. I knew Smokey well. He was tight with my dad. He grew up, lived and retired in my midget wide spot in the road. Population about 400-450.

IMO, these lawsuits pertaining to Trump’s executive order on the census are a bad idea. Trump doesn’t get to decide how apportionment happens. That is exclusively the purview of the House itself – and the House can and should (and one assumes, will) ignore Trump’s efforts to interfer in its prerogative. All that the lawsuits do is create an opportunity for the courts to legitimize Trump’s actions – the House doesn’t need the courts to tell it to ignore Trump, so the lawsuits serve no positive purpose.

BTAIM, every player and coach on the field knelt last night — knowing full well that it would enrage Trump. IMO, this will be a litmus test – either those MAGGOTS kneel with their teammates, or they stand for Trump. And I doubt, given the importance of team spirit, that any of them will be standing for Trump that day.

Well, they all…ALL…knelt at the Nationals game. Baseball functions as a soporiphic for me, but the teams seem to be more woke as a whole than even the NFL teams.
Robinson would have been proud of that display methinks and I hope more than a few of them were thinking of him when they did it.

Ahem. U.S. Constitution, Article I, Section 2, reads, in part:
3: Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons. 2 The actual Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct.
Naturally, the 3/5ths part has been overruled, so the terms are pretty damned clear. “whole Number of [free] Persons” can not be construed in any way to reflect the “Person’s” citizenship status. I doubt that the “Originalists” on the Supreme Court can twist this any other way. Naturally, I would not be surprised if they did, but it would be a huge stretch. Also, too, how does 45 know who is an “illegal”?? Please, this is a garbage order from the deluded mind of a POS.

There was actually no such thing as an undocumented alien until the late 19th century, when anti-asian immigration laws were initially passed. Indeed, the whole history of immigration laws are pretty much efforts to keep out “undesirable” members of racial/ethnic/religious groups.

Not during the anthem. Just when they were doing the BLM tribute. As far as I could tell, every single player stood for the anthem at the Yankees-Nats game.

Only for the BLM black ribbon video salute thing. Not for the anthem.
ETA2: I didn’t watch the late game, but apparently a few players and coaches for both the Dodgers and the Giants kneeled during the anthem. My bad. And hooray, baseball is canceled for El Jefe Maxima Naranja!

Does that matter? They showed universal solidarity with the message. THAT matters.
Does it have to take the form of incitement or is an end-run around their propaganda more effective? When they place the goal posts and continuously move them, our best bet is to not let them define what constitutes scoring. We should be defining the battlefield…and doing so rapidly, continuously and before they can even recognize or prepare for where we’ve brought the fight…not fighting on the ones of their choosing.
