A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo.
Biden gave his first State of the Union address last night (check out our liveblog here), during which far-right Reps. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) did … whatever this is:
I will admit being surprised seeing GOP pols stand to applaud President Biden. It seems they still retain some shreds of humanity and decency, which gives me hope.
I’m sure there were some ulterior motives, at least for some who have elections pending later this year.
It really won’t look good not to stand for some of the programs for which 78% of the American people are in favor.
Susie is just lucky she isn’t running this year. Maine has a lot to answer for with her head shaking no during some of Biden’s speech, but she won’t be held accountable any time soon.
‘Build the Wall’ is a litmus test for stupidity; it was always a dumb idea. Their continued support for that nonsense tells you all you need to know about the intellectual capacity of these two Brainiacs.
The NYT is really an enigma. In some ways it is the greatest newspaper of all time, but is also makes some really stupid decisions. I just subscribed online last month. The subscription was inexpensive and the NYT gives me valuable information for my work that I cannot obtain from other sources. At the same time, I remain flabbergasted by some of their editorial decisions.
