The Influencer-Administration Complex

As The Editors have noted, the idea is to

  • Show “blue” cities and states that Twice-Impeached Trump Rules and there’s nothing they can do about it
  • Inflict maximum pain and humiliation
  • Inspire a violent response, or at least something that can be spun that way, to validate invoking the 18th century “Insurrection Act.”

And note that Trump really, really likes to inflict pain and humiliation, and he’s got the world’s most powerful military that will do anything he wants it to, and nobody can stop him. Like, after you’ve nuked Chicago (thanks, Netflix!), even if the Supreme Court (ha!) says “naughty, naughty”, things can’t go back to the way they were.

Note further that this explains the over the top response to the little video a few Democrats made reminding the military not to follow “illegal orders.” Illegal orders is what it’s all about.

Yes, and ICE is just enforcing existing immigration law.

It’s 34 degrees below zero in Denmark. Airports are closed.

Former law enforcement officer, Kramer Hammy:

"As a former officer, let me make something clear: ICE agents ARE NOT police officers, deputy sheriffs, or troopers. They are not local/state law enforcement. They are not federal criminal law enforcement. They have an INCREDIBLY limited scope of authority, and that scope of authority exists in detaining and arresting with probable cause and/or SIGNED WARRANTS those investigated and suspected of being in the US illegally.
"They cannot just pull anyone over for a traffic violation or because their car is in a place they don’t want it. They have NO authority to pull people over for ANYTHING other than immigration enforcement- and even then that involves probable cause, such as a known vehicle of someone they have been tracking, or a warrant. On very rare occasions they have the legal authority to pull someone over if they are threatening the lives of others, but that was not happening in this case. They do not have the training nor the authority to pull ANYONE else over. They cannot arrest legal citizens. They cannot detain legal citizens without probable cause to believe they might not be legal. They have ZERO authority to be attempting to force entry into a vehicle- without even identifying themselves, without a warrant, without exigent circumstances such as a life being directly threatened- that is trying to drive down the street without probable cause in relation to IMMIGRATION ENFORCEMENT.
"This ENTIRE situation in Minnesota was outside of the scope of legal authority from the get go. None of it was done within the scope of authority of ICE. Every single behavior those agents made was procedurally incorrect, done without proper authority, and was based off of intimidation and the assumption that people do not understand the law and their rights in regards to interactions with ICE. "

“She has shown no remorse. She has not taken responsibility for her actions, the harms that she did have been used repeatedly to spread conspiracy theories, falsehood and fuel election lies and threats to election officials in our infrastructure,” Democratic Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold told TPM of Peters’ lawyers’ efforts to overturn her conviction in a state appeals court this week.

I’ve met Jena several times at local Dem fundraisers and contributed to her previous SoS campaigns. Young, smart, honest. I’m hoping she eventually runs for a higher office.

OT: Visual Break

once again I’m MIA in the Hive. I’m crazy busy with Toronto Design Week coming up. The other day we installed our new exhibition at the Craft Ontario gallery. It’s furniture by Heidi Earnshaw. I first met her about 25 years ago. She just finished her third year in furniture making at a college here. Later she went to The Rhode Island School of Design; where she also taught. It’s been amazing to reconnect with her.

here are a few pieces in our gallery.

Polis basically told D officials who didn’t like him dancing with pardoning her…to run for governor if they don’t like his corrupt dealings in this case.

Indeed. As I wrote late last night so probably many people missed it was the following:

There are no centrists in foxholes.

And that’s where I think we are now. Now is not a time for half-measures and compromises. Now is the time to man the ramparts.

I TOLD YOU SO!

…an NRA fund-raising letter slamming federal agents as “armed terrorists dressed in Ninja black … jack-booted thugs armed to the teeth who break down doors, open fire with automatic weapons and kill law-abiding citizens.”

Palling around with terrorists:

The fallout from Scott’s viral moment has been swift. He resigned as CEO of Harmony Investment Group, a Troy-based healthcare investment firm. He was fired from Anthony Hudson’s gubernatorial campaign in Michigan. And he’s no longer on the executive committee of the Bay County Republican Party. In his resignation statement, Scott said the board and he “have different views of the future of America.”

I bought a nice electric snowblower for my kid…$40 and delivered it to Milwaukee last weekend. I used it once and verified it would easily do fine with 4-5 inches of powder. Not sure how it would do with a few inches of real slop. My gas one hates the really wet stuff and clogs up a lot.

So I bought another used one at the restore store for $35 that was a bit rattier…but it just did 2" of powder just fine and in less time and huffing than my normal single-stage gas Toro.

These are real, 20" small corded snowblowers (not electric shovels or snow sweepers) and I don’t smell like gas exhaust when I am done. They’re built about as tough as my Toro (which isn’t saying much) but my Toro has run for 20+ years and was used and tattered when I got it.

Going to be 5-10 below zero here by Sunday/Monday.

The only gas lawn/yard tool I can’t do without is my riding lawnmower and if I get a chance on a good electric someday I won’t hesitate.

I like the concept, but the person who knowingly kicks off the foreign propaganda is counting on a viral spread of their contagion. So you have 1 person who can be charged and 100 willing and useful idiots. Those useful idiots will then claim that their right to free speech is being infringed.

I suspect a fine of .1% per day and 5% per unique incident of the value of the company holding ownership of the distribution platform would be more effective in deterrence.
