I loved the piece except for the part about Clinton in 1992. I do not know what lies the author is referring to. I did get rich during the Clinton Era. At least the sort of rich where you can order both appetizer and desert when out for dinner. I loved the Clinton/Tsongas arguments about the capital gains tax. Our author cannot be as much of a wonk as he claims if he did not find them soul stirring. I loved one of the primary debates in which Clinton’s final statement was “We all seem to agree on … and disagree on …” The reporter reacted that Clinton seemed to think he was the moderator not a debater.
Not intentional, I assure you. It is, as you say, the Democratic Party.
Perhaps now less than completely happy days.
You are correct re citizenship. Clinton facilitated Murdoch’s ability to expand his media empire in a way not allowed before then. I don’t know if the rights of naturalized citizens re ownership were involved in that change.
Oh please. Clinton ran as a Round Table Democrat bent on expanding global capitalism in a way that encouraged corporations to move overseas. He didn’t start the process, but he actively helped facilitate it. How do you think we ended up with a largely service economy?
It is correct Reagan gave Murdoch citizenship. Clinton facilitated Murdoch’s ability to expand his media empire in a way not allowed before1996. I don’t know if the rights of naturalized citizens re ownership were involved in that change.
What all that has to do with Tucker Carlson and the far right wing I’ll leave to your imagination.
A good chunk of Trump supporters are working class, so the distinction is not meaningful. And in the context of the 2016 campaign, even husband Bill was urging her to go visit the highly industrial, i.e., working class, upper midwest states, in the final days of the campaign but she refused. Her reason for not doing was well known.
